New Jersey Mom Arrested For Bringing Five Year Old To Tanning Booth

Ahhh!!!

Police arrested this super tanned New Jersey mom, whom they say brought her 5 year old daughter to a tanning booth, which caused the young girl to suffer burns.

Patricia Krentcil was charged with second degree endangerment.

The mother says "she loves to tan," (she really must love it) but insisted she never would let her fair-skinned daughter join her in a pod.

New Jersey law does not allow anyone younger than 14 to use tanning booths because of health risk.

The controversy happened after a school nurse noticed the daughter, Anna, had burns which she attributed to "going tanning with my mom."

Watch the video (above) at your own risk.

That mother is scary looking!!

UPDATE: The owner of the tanning salon says employees who worked on the day in question told him the young girl did NOT enter the tanning booth with her mother and rather stayed outside in the waiting room with her father and brother. She has since turned six-years-old.

Fake Tan Users More Likely To Avoid The Sun

FAke Tan Better

While we understand that the sun and vitamin d are crucial to health and, well, happiness, we're saying this is a good thing because it stops people from not going out door, but going outdoors to bake in a bikini or speedo.

On that note, we still think it's not the best idea just to later yourself in chemicals instead. At least it's helping people avoid skin cancer.

A new study shows that 40% of those who use the fake tanning are spending less time in the sun, which means that pushing for fake tans (we're sure they'll get better from the orange kinds) could help drive people away from harmful rays!

"The message I give is, your natural skin color is where you were born to be, but if you really want to be tan get it out of a bottle. Getting a tan out of a bottle is incredibly safe, whereas getting tanned from tanning beds and lying out is not."

Also, it'll help you avoid wrinkles!

Win win!

Though, we don't really understand why people feel the need to tan at all! You're beautiful how you are!

Vitamin D/Calcium May Halve The Risk Of Melanoma In Women!

Vitamin D and Calcium Good Against Melanoma

A new study is suggesting that some women who are at major risk of the worst kind of skin cancer (melanoma) could possibly be cutting that risk in half just by taking a vitamin d/calcium supplement!

"It looks like there is some promising evidence for vitamin D and calcium for prevention of melanoma in a high-risk group," said lead researcher Dr. Jean Tang, an assistant professor of dermatology at Stanford University School of Medicine.

If you've had previous non-melanoma forms of skin cancer, like basal cell or squamous cell, you're some of the women most at risk for getting melanoma. Not only should you keep getting checked out if abnormal skin growths show up, but it sounds like a regiment of vitamin d/calcium supplements couldn't hurt either!

This really is a simple way to potentially lower risk — there's no reason not to!

Stay healthy, everyone!

There Is No Such Thing As A "Healthy" Tan

If you could go back in time and tell your 16-year-old self anything, what would it be?

For the people in this video it would be to wear sunscreen and avoid tanning beds — they are melanoma survivors.

There is NO SUCH THING as a “healthy” tan. If you have a tan you have skin damage, and have increased your risk of developing skin cancer.

Don’t sacrifice your future for that “healthy” glow.

It’s not worth it.
