According to reports, customs officials couldn't believe their eyes when they saw the silhouette of a child stuffed in a suitcase as it went through the security scanner in Ceuta.
The suitcase was carried by a 19-year-old woman from Morocco, who tried to sneak him into Spanish territory, but she wasn't even related to the boy, who is reportedly from Ivory Coast in West Africa.
The woman was suspected to be paid by the child's father, A.O., who tried to cross into Spain an hour and a half later, assuming his son Abou would be awaiting his arrival.
But after the 43-year-old said he was from Ivory Coast, customs officials became suspicious. Once they showed him a picture of the boy in the suitcase, the man broke down and admitted to being the boy's father, saying:
