If You Might Get Colon Cancer, You Might Want Stop Eating This Stuff

colon cancer prevention stop eating foods

If you are at risk for colon cancer, you can lower your risk of getting this disease by avoiding certain foods!

Scientists evaluated 486 people with Lynch syndrome, which is a genetic disorder that predisposes people to cancer. It leaves 70% of them with the colon variety. In the evaluations, they were asked about their diets and classified into one of four groups according to what they ate: high in fruits, vegetables and whole grains; high in meat and coffee; high in a Mediterranean-type diet that included fish, leafy greens, pasta, sauces and wine; and high in fried snacks, fast food and diet soda.

Can you guess with group had the longest risk?

Wow, Jude Law!

We hope all that candy is going to be a gift — or maybe put into a giant dish, offered to those visiting your home — because if you plan on eating all that yourself, you'll get cavities for sure!

Though, Dylan's Candy Bar is delicious.

Okay, maybe you can have a few pieces…

… if you send the rest to us! LOLz!

Have a happy holiday, Jude!

Healthy Macaroon Recipe For Gossip Girl Finale!

mariko-laugh__opt.jpg

The Gossip Girl finale is nearing, and we're pretty upset. So drown your sorrows with a new snack recipe from Mariko:

"The end of Gossip Girl is pretty devastating … so I'll be watching the finale in style.

That includes my healthy, gluten-free French Macaroons!

For macaroons

6 oz almond flour (or ground almonds
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
3 large egg whites
3/4 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons granulated sugar
Red or pink food coloring

For chocolate hazelnut ganache

Nutella

Make macaroons:
Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.

Sift almond flour and powdered sugar together. In separate bowl, beat egg whites, adding the granulated sugar a little at a time. Beat until egg whites hold a stiff peak. Use spatula to gently fold in almond flour mixture until completely incorporated. Don't worry when it goes down in size.

Spoon batter into large zip lock bag. Remove excess air, and snip off corner off bag, leaving 1/2 inch opening. Twist bag firmly just above batter, then pipe mounds of batter (to look like a chocolate kiss) onto lined sheets about 1 1/2 inches apart. Let cookies stand, uncovered, at room temperature until tops are no longer sticky and a light crust forms, 20 to 30 minutes.

Meanwhile, put oven racks in upper and lower thirds of oven and preheat oven to 300°F.

Bake cookies, switching position of sheets halfway through baking, until crisp and edges are just slightly darker, 20 to 25 minutes. Cool completely on sheets on racks, about 30 minutes. When finished, spread a thin layer of nutella (about a teaspoon) on half of them make sandwiches!

xoxo Mariko!"

Quickfit Tip Of The Day

white 1

Eat more vegetables with soup!

Vegetable soup is a great way to get more vegetables into your diet without the hassle. When the weather gets colder, its harder to eat a salad than something hot and steamy. I also like to have a pot of vegetable soup in the fridge as a low-calorie and nutritious snack. In a large pot of water, add a variety of your favorite vegetables: I often use cabbage, carrots, peppers, garlic, fennel, squash, fresh herbs - whatever looks good and is on sale. Bring to a boil over medium high heat, and reduce to low until vegetables are soft. Now this is where you can get creative! Garnish with ingredients like salsa, avocado and crushed tortilla chips or parmesan cheese and croutons.

If you're someone who snacks when you're feeling low on energy, that's a good thing — especially if you're keeping it healthy. The problem with this time of the year is that there are going to be a LOT more temptations offered to you.

That's no problem for Bethenny Frankel:

“With a new talk show on the way and looking after my baby and business, I’m busier than ever. But no matter how busy I am, I make sure I don’t sacrifice healthy, satisfying food, especially when it comes to snacking. Making smart choices is easy to do while on the go and can be delicious without being high in calories.”

Fab fab fab!

So what does she recommend we do during the holidays?

Jessica Simpson: The Secret Of Her Weight Watchers Diet!

jessica-simpson-diet-weight-watchers-secret-reveal

Sixty pounds is no small feat, but if you think Jessica Simpson's journey to thinning down after having a baby is the norm, you'd be nuts. You should know that's not the case right off the bat — she's basically an employee of theirs, with millions of dollars waiting for her at the end of her weight loss.

We can't think of very many people who get that kind of treatment during the program.

That being said, she also had a bunch of people and reasons to stick to her regimen of low-fat smoothies, protein, and veggies — and the plan was even created by Jessica's former private chef. It followed the WW point system, but with fancy menu items like egg white omelets, chicken satays, whipped chick peas, soba noodles, and shrimp skewers.

Here's how it worked:

In July she started with a 15-day smoothie diet: 5 days of 3 smoothies a day (with 2 healthy snacks); 5 days of 2 smoothies a day (2 healthy snacks, 1 meal); and 5 days of 1 smoothie day (with 2 snacks and 2 meals).

The results speak for themselves — girl looks FAB!

Though, we're not entirely sold on how healthy smoothie diets are!
