Beyoncé Seeks Justice! Sony Sues Over Leaked 4 Album! It's Sasha Fierce's Revenge!

beyonce sues man leaked 4 album

Don’t even think about messing with Queen Bey, because it’ll most definitely cost you!!

Back in June of 2011, Beyoncé released her album 4, but it had already been leaked online 16 days beforehand!

Now Sony Music has filed a lawsuit against a Swedish man who they believe uploaded it to The Pirate Bay, a torrent website!

So, just how much are they seeking in damages??

The papers filed say Sony is suing for $233,000, for not only leaking the album, but damaging their relationship with Bey and taking a toll on her own reputation, as well!

The man, who’s currently not being named, is believed to have gotten his hands on 4 in advance through some music industry connections of his!

Guess this should be taken as a warning for the other music pirates out there!

We hope this doesn’t happen again with Beyoncé’s upcoming album that she’s working on… as much as we can't wait to hear it!

Fifth Harmony Sony Music Deal 1

Tate Stevens might’ve been crowned this year’s X Factor champ, but it sounds like some of his competitors are set to win big as well!

While it’d been rumored that Simon Cowell’s group, Emblem3, would be signed to Sony Music, we’re now hearing that Carly Rose Sonenclar and Fifth Harmony will be, too!

With the season concluding just last week, Carly Rose came in second place this season, with Fifth Harmony in third and Emblem3 in fourth!

Though official announcements are said to be made in early 2013, the four finalists will all supposedly be signed to Syco Music — Simon and Sony Music’s record company.

Of Simon’s plans, an insider revealed:

Dancers Alliance Does Flash Mob For Music Video Contract Rights

Dozens of members of the Los Angeles dance community and members of The Dancers Alliance rallied in front of Sony Music Entertainment offices on Friday in protest over their lack of rights in music videos.

Dancers who are in the union get benefits when they work on stage shows, movies, television and commercials. However, when it comes to music videos, performers say that the music video industry is still like the "lawless wild west."

Dancer Kevin Stea says:

"If you see me or my fellow dancers on the Grammys, we are working under a union contract. If you see us in movies, commercials, or Dancing with the Stars, for example, we have a union contract. But when you watch dancers perform in music videos, we are working without a union contract and without basic protections on the job and no hope of insurance or pension benefits."

In their new campaign "It's About Time," dancers are seeking proper pay and benefits for their work in videos. Watch their flash mob rally above.

We support you!!!

Tragic! Australian Idol Judge Found Dead At 36-Years-Old

jay dee springbett found dead

Way too young.

36-year-old Australian Idol judge Jay Dee Springbett, who also served as an A&R exec at Sony Music for over six years, was found dead in his Sydney apartment last night.

According to police, Springbett's death is "not suspicious."

Here's what Sony Music Entertainment Australia and New Zealand CEO Denis Handlin had to say about Jay:

"Jay Dee was so very enthusiastic and passionate about his family, his music projects and his plans for the future. [He] was a great friend and larger-than-life charismatic character who will be missed enormously."

We're so sad to hear about this, but at least we're glad to hear that police don't seem to suspect foul play.

Our thoughts go out to Jay Dee's family, friends, and peers during this incredibly difficult time. Such a tragedy.

Watch Out, Google! Apple Securing Deal For Streaming Music With Record Labels!

apple-securing-deal-for-streaming-music-with-record-labels

We assumed it would only be a matter of time before they jumped on this bandwagon!

A source close to Apple has revealed that the company is close to securing deals with all four major recording companies about a new music service that will reportedly allow users to stream music stored on computers to portable devices, to avoid one having to use up storage space and connect devices to transfer songs!

According to the insider, the deal - with Universal, Sony, EMI Group, and Warner Brothers - will allow for 'downloading, mobile use and streaming,' and will officially be announced at the Apple annual developers' conference on June 6th!

Uh-oh! We wonder what this will mean for the Google and Amazon cloud music plans!

Either way, it sounds like all three projects will ultimately help get us get our music faster AND easier, so we're pretty psyched!

What do U think?? Are U looking forward to more stream-based tunez??
