Chris Cornell's passing still leaves some questions up in the air.

In the wake of his death, the Soundgarden frontman's longtime house engineer Ted Keedick tells TMZ the singer seemed "out of character" during his Detroit performance — hours before he committed suicide.

In fact, Ted says Chris, who had a past of drug use, seemed "high" and "fucked up" during the show.

The sudden death of Chris Cornell rocked his fellow musicians to the core.

Dozens of tributes have poured out in the wake of the Soundgarden frontman's tragic suicide, most being of the musical variety.

Aerosmith, Metallica, Train, and U2 were just a few bands who paid homage to Cornell on stage over the weekend, dedicating performances to the late rocker and delivering heartbreaking covers of his own hits, like Soundgarden's Black Hole Sun.

Musicians like Chris Daughtry, Ryan Adams, and Ann Wilson of Heart also paid tribute to the late legend with their own covers. But the most emotional tribute came from Taylor Momsen, who nearly broke down performing Audioslave's Like A Stone.

Seeing as Momsen's band The Pretty Reckless opened for Soundgarden the night Cornell took his own life, we can't imagine how she got through this performance.

Special Chris Cornell Tribute Planned In Place Of Soundgarden Set At Rock On The Range Festival

Understandably, Soundgarden will no longer be headlining this weekend's Rock On The Range music festival Friday night in Columbus, Ohio.

Instead, there will be a special tribute to the band's lead singer, the late Chris Cornell.

While no exact plans have been announced, this is an especially quick turnaround considering the 52-year-old singer was tragically found dead in his Detroit hotel room early Thursday morning.

TMZ reports all other bands will perform as scheduled, and Live will also honor Chris during their prime time set.

The band's rep said of the rocker:

"His voice and lyrics came from a deep and spiritual place and their power will be felt forever."

Meanwhile, concertgoers have been evacuated from the venue and told to return to their vehicles due to severe weather, according to the event's Facebook page:

The Soundgarden frontman played his final, sold out performance with the band on Wednesday night in Detroit — hours before he was found dead in his hotel bathroom.

The rocker's mysterious passing is even eerier given the final song in his last performance was about death.

According to reports, the 52-year-old ended the set with a cover of Led Zeppelin's In My Time of Dying, in which he sang:

As the outpouring of love comes out for Chris Cornell, new details are being revealed about the 52-year-old's death.

We previously reported the Soundgarden frontman was found dead in his Detroit hotel room after a gig on Wednesday night. Now, it's being said his death is being looked at as an apparent suicide.

Detroit's WXYZ reports police saying Chris' wife called up a family friend to check up on the singer. After forcing his way into the hotel room, he found the dad of three on the floor of the bathroom. Chris was pronounced dead on the scene.

According to TMZ, the grunge rock icon was found with a band around his neck, and there was no blood at the scene, which has police suspecting his death was a suicide.

The Detroit Police Department's media relations director, Michael Woody, said in a statement:

The music industry has lost another great.

As we previously reported, grunge rock god Chris Cornell passed away on Wednesday evening following a gig in Detroit. He was only 52.

Cornell is best known for pioneering the grunge rock scene with his band Soundgarden, which came out of Seattle in the '90s. So it's no wonder several celebs have since flocked to Twitter to pay tribute to the Black Hole Sun artist — including Elton John, Gavin Rossdale, St. Vincent, etc. So sad.
