Fired AGAIN! Film Critic Elvis Mitchell Can't Get A Break!

Filed under: Film FlickersSad SadBusiness Blitz

elvis mitchell loses another job

It's not easy being Elvis!

Back in September, we learned that Elvis Mitchell had landed a job as a co-host on Roger Ebert's new At the Movies show.

Unfortunately for Elvis, he lost that gig, and now he's been fired from his gig at the Movieline blog after only three months!

Apparently, Mitchell was let go after he included a "wayward fact" in his review of Source Code. Nothing's been confirmed, but given the fact that he criticized the film for a scene that NEVER made it into the final cut, there's some speculation as to whether or not Mitchell actually watched the movie, or just reviewed an earlier draft of the screenplay.

Then again, maybe there was even more to the firing. Here's IndieWire's Anne Thompson on Elvis Mitchell's character:

"Mitchell is not good with money. Or meeting deadlines. Filing expenses. Or doing what he says he’s going to do. He has left or lost one job after another, from NPR to the New York Times. Famously, he never turned up for a job he had accepted at the L.A. Times, nor for a job as a development exec for Sony. He has expensive tastes. He likes Versace suits and staying at the Four Seasons in L.A."

"Here’s Mitchell in a nutshell. At Sundance, I was standing in line at a snack bar when juror Jason Reitman accosted Mitchell, asking him why he hadn’t returned any of his emails or phone calls. Mitchell demurred."

Hopefully Elvis can get himself together, but at this point, it sounds like his reputation may be pretty damn tarnished! Guess we'll see when/if/where he gets hired on next.

Do U think Elvis Mitchell is still hireable? Would U hire him?

The Easter Bunny Hops To First Place At The Weekend Box Office

hop-is-number-one-movie.jpg

Happy early Easter!

Kids were jumping for joy at the movies this weekend to see bunnies poop jelly beans.

Yup, Universal's Hop debuted at the number one spot at the box office this weekend. The animated/live-action film, starring Russell Brand and James Marsden, made $38.1 million, which was better than expected.

Universal must be hopping for joy because it's the biggest opening of any other film this year so far.

Meanwhile, Jake Gyllenhaal's Source Code didn't come in first place, but it still did fairly good, opening with $15.1 million.

The inexpensive horror film, Insidious, came in third with $13.5 million.

Zack Snyder's Sucker Punch took a huge blow as it dropped 68% from the previous weekend, grossing only $6.1 million for the weekdn.

So far, that's been the biggest second-weekend drop of any movie this year.

Ouchie.

Rounding out the top five was Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules, which fell 57% and and grossed $10.2 million.

Jake Gyllenhaal Makes Surprise Appearance On SNL's Weekend Update!

Filed under: TV NewsJake GyllenhaalNicolas CagePerezTV

Jake Gyllenhaal made a surprise appearance on SNL's Weekend Update to promote his new movie Source Code this Saturday night.

Sitting next to Andy Samberg, who seriously plays a better Nicolas Cage than the actual Nic Cage, Jakey-Poo was schooled in how to act like a real film star. Or according to Senor Cage, "a hairline that's constantly moving up and down your skull."

LOLz. Watch the funny clip (above).

Lindsay Lohan Was Invited To The Source Code Premiere

She's baaaack.

Lindsay Lohan made her triumphant return to the red carpet Thursday night by attending the New York premiere of Source Code.

Linds played it relatively safe, for her at least, in a printed shift dress with black tights and heels.

Perhaps this ensemble was in her courtroom "maybe" pile.

Pee Wee And Jake G Promote Each Other!

How cute is this??

As far as promotions go, this is such an adorable and clever way to do it!

Watch the videos above to see Pee-Wee help promotes Jake Gyllenhaal's Source Code, and then Jake turn around and help promote Pee-Wee's Broadway show!

In the first video, Jake's deadpan "that's right" cracks us up every time!

Don't U think promotions like these should happen more often??
