Well, that was a choice.

German figure skater Nicole Schott caught the attention of social media during her head-turning free skate at the 2018 Winter Olympics Friday morning in South Korea — and no, not the good kind of attention.

The 21-year-old gracefully skated to the score from Schindler's ListSteven Spielberg's Oscar-winning 1993 film following German-occupied Poland during WWII — and the creative choice caused Twitter to light up with fury.

Reactions to the performance varied from feeling disrespected, to uber awkward, to pure profanity-laden confusion (courtesy of the people's commentator, Leslie Jones.)

While some responders tried to calm down the internet, reminding them that it's somewhat common in the sport to use the evocative Schindler's List score, most were ready to call in Tonya Harding to teach Schott a history lesson.
