This is so sweet.

Maria Shriver made a wonderful speech in Greece during the Special Olympics for the park dedication ceremony in honor of her mother.

She talks about how important the games were to her mom, and how much they now mean to her. Maria's mother Eunice was actually the one who started the Special Olympics, so she has always been important to the cause.

What beautiful words, Maria! Your mom would be both proud of you and the park! Keep up the loving support for the cause!

The Special Olympics World Games 2011 is being held in Greece, at the Kallimarmaron Panthinaikon Olympic Stadium, where the first olympics of the modern era was located!

We absolutely LOVE seeing support for these games, and this year was no exception! In attendance was Maria Menounos, Maria Shriver, Stevie Wonder, and Venessa Williams!

Menounos presented a dedication to the late Eunice Kennedy Shriver, founder of Special Olympics and introduced the 2011 Special Olympics Global Messengers. Stevie and Venessa were also a part of the opening ceremonies.

Here's what else Maria did:

While in Athens, Menounos spent time with the athletes, Global Messengers, and volunteers. She participated in the official Special Olympics press conference, moderated a Special Olympics Conversation Series “How Do We Tell Special Olympics Story” and took in the games.

What a fantastic thing to do, and what a wonderful way to show your support to these very important and inspiring games!

We DEF wish that more celebs would help out, because this is such a worthy cause!

Uh, oh!

Jennifer Aniston used to word "retard" during an interview on Live with Regis and Kelly and advocates for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities are up in arms!

And rightfully so!

Regis Philbin was commenting on her Barbra Streisand inspired photo shoot for Harper's Bazaar saying, "You're playing dress up!" Jen's response?

"Yes, I play dress up! I do it for a living, like a retard!"

WTF? Talk about a face-palm moment!

Kirsten Seckler, a spokeswoman for the Special Olympics says:

"Sadly, people use the word pervasively even if they don't realize it. People with intellectual disabilities have fought their whole lives for understanding and recognition. When people continue to use the R word, it's hurtful.

"Think before you speak especially when you're making fun of yourself or others. We have a very passionate group of people advocating for change in their communities and schools to change the use of this word."

She better get her PR people on this, stat!
