An Endangered Baby Dolphin Was Killed When Tourists Passed It Around For Selfies

We are absolutely sick to our stomach!

Last week in the resort town of Santa Teresita, Argentina, beachgoers picked up a Franciscana dolphin from the ocean and passed it around for selfies.

The foot-long animal — which cannot survive long out of water — was eventually killed due to overheating and dehydration.

Video footage shows the dolphin dying on the ground, laying motionless.

The species — also known as La Plata dolphins — can only be found in Argentina, Uruguay, and Brazil, and can only inhabit saltwater.

They are categorized as "vulnerable" on the International Union for Conservation of Nature's Red List of Threatened Species, and has a population of under 30,000.

Once video of the horrific incident began circulating, the Argentine Wildlife Foundation (AWF) quickly condemned the swimmers.

"This incident should serve to remind people about the need to return these dolphins to the sea if one is found outside of the water… It's fundamental that people help rescue these animals because every Franciscan has value."

Not surprisingly, people took to Twitter to vent their outrage

There are under 1,000 members of this rare, and equally adorable Ochotona iliensis species, located in the mountainous Xinjiang region of northwestern China, so yeah you should definitely be bummed.

Since conservationist Li Weidong discovered the cute critters back in 1983 the Ili Pikas' numbers have dwindled by nearly 70%.

jennifer lopez water mite named after her

We bet Jennifer Lopez is equal parts flattered and confused after scientists named a new species after her.

The weird part? The species was a water mite!

That's right, A BUG!!

The thing is, the water mite was found in Puerto Rico and not only does J. Lo have Puerto Rican roots, her music kept the scientists pumped while they worked! Also, she's smokin' hot!

A biologist involved in the discovery of the new species said:

This Woman Had Sex With A Dolphin! A LOT! Animal Abuse Or Naw?

Dolphin researcher from the 60's recalls how she used to regularly pleasure a male dolphin.

Margaret Howe Lovatt was an animal researcher caught up in the weirdness of the 1960's.

The weirdness we speak of is the Nasa-funded experiment on the U.S. Virgin Islands where Margaret tried to teach a dolphin named Peter to speak English.

Margaret lived with Peter the dolphin in a normal, domestic home… that just happened to be filled with knee-deep water!

She and Peter lived together and their friendship pretty quickly blossomed into something more… gross physical.
