The world has lost a special person.

Avery Lynn Canahuati died yesterday afternoon. She was almost 7 months old.

Her father wrote a beautiful tribute to his daughter on the blog Avery's Bucket List.

Here's what he said:

"Hello everyone this is Avery's father. Avery passed away yesterday sometime around 3pm due to pulmonary complications related to SMA. In short, one of her lungs collapsed and she went into cardiac arrest. I immediately performed CPR on her and was able to bring her back to life, but only for a brief period of time before she passed away shortly after arriving at the hospital. Avery's passing this quickly came as a complete shock to all of us, as she had just been given a thumbs up at her last doctors appointment only three days ago. While we were aware of the severity of her diagnosis, we never lost hope for Avery and even in her passing, we still have hope for our daughter."

If you haven't read the blog, yet - you definitely should.

It's amazing and touching and wonderful.

Bye, baby.

We'll truly miss you.

Dying Baby Girl Goes Viral

This is so sad, and yet so inspiring!

Laura and Mike Canahuati's 5-month-old-daughter Avery was diagnosed with Type 1 Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Her doctors told the parents their baby has only 18 months to live.

After a brief grieving period, the mom and dad decided to make a bucket list for their baby where they track every special moment she has during her life. Mike Canahuati writes the bucket list and a blog in his daughter's voice on a website called Avery's Bucket List.

Here's what "Avery" said on the blog:

"I have a lot of living to do in just a little bit of time. In everything I do, the two most important things are that I'm spending time with my mommy & daddy, while at the same time spreading awareness for SMA."

Some of the items on the list that Avery's checked off includes tasting solid foods, flying a kite, blowing bubbles, visiting a college, and even had her first fake driver's license made!

She's even had her first kiss with a baby who also has SMA.

Here's what the blog said:

"His name is Cooper and he's 19 months old (I just love older men, they're so much more mature than 3 & 4 month olds). My mommy and daddy said this might be the best kiss since Ryan Gosling & Rachel McAdams in The Notebook."

The blog has touched people all over the world and has heavily increased awareness for Avery's disease.

The last item on Avery's bucket list is to overcome her illness although her parents have accepted, barring a miracle, the unlikelihood of their daughter's survival.
