Baby Bearcat Smells Like Delicious Buttery Popcorn!!

baby bearcat

What smells like buttery popcorn and is at the Staten Island Zoo?

An adorable baby bearcat!!!

An extremely rare bearcat, or binturong, was born in Las Vegas, Nevada and is the newest animal friend at the zoo on the island in New York City.

His name is Oliver Wolf - so that's a win just for that name. He's seven-and-a-half weeks old aka just a baby, so that's a double win. And he gives off a smell of delicious popcorn which definitely seals the cuteness deal in our minds!

So if you're in the area, and you have the chance to see this rare and unique animal - don't miss out!!!

Make sure you eat before though, or the bearcat's popcorn smell might make you super hungry!

Lolz!

Dozens Of Turkeys Overrun Staten Island Community

wild-turkey-staten-island.jpg

New York is a melting pot, where anyone is welcome to come and call it their home.

Unless you're a wild turkey.

Every year, residents of Ocean Breeze say sometimes it gets so packed with turkeys, they can't let their kids outside to play, let alone drive down the street.

Officials say about 100 turkeys wander the area.

Crazy.

The problem started in 1999 when a woman released her 9 turkeys, and they've been multiplying ever since.

Area residents are frustrated because nothing is being done about, also, city law protects wild turkeys from hunters, so there'll be no vigilante justice either.

Looks like the turkeys are there to stay.

We guess the residents and turkeys will just have to learn to coexist.

First Jersey Shore now West Nile??

The city's first case of the West Nile virus has been detected in mosquitoes in Eltingville, according to the NYC Health Department.

So far, no human cases have been found this season in the five boroughs.

The Health Department said it has increased mosquito surveillance and mosquito larvae control efforts in the area where the mosquitoes were found.

West Nile virus has returned to New York City, but simple precautions can help protect you and your family,”

the Health Commissioner warned.

Oh Staten Island, what nastiness will you breed next?
