Confirmed! Barbra In "Serious" Talks With Sondheim & Laurents To Star In Gypsy!

Here she is, boys! Here she is, world! Here's Rose Barbra!
Sources are confirming that Barbra Streisand is in serious talks to star in a movie remake of the classic musical, Gypsy!
Ooh! We got all tingling writing that!
According to an interview with Stephen Sondheim and Arthur Laurents, the men behind Mama Rose an the Gypsy story, Babs has already sat down with them to discuss the film project in depth. Though previous reports indicated that Barbra may also be stepping behind the lens to act as director, Mr. Laurents, the author of the show's book, explains that isn't happening. He explains that she once want to, but decided " playing Rose is enough to make her happy.”
So far,Warner Brothers and Joel Silver are attached as producers and Mr. Laurents reveals that he and Barbra have started to discuss casting. Their choice to play Herbie, Rose’s love interest and the talent manager of her two daughters? Tom Hanks!
Wouldn't that be an interesting pairing!
Though the original 1962 flick has a rather devoted following (and equally devoted group of haters), Mr. Laurents says he is "pleased" that there is a "different film version for the historical record” in the making.
There are no words to express how pleased we are, as well. Hearing this makes us think everything's bright lights and lollipops!
Please, please, PLEASE get started on this right away!
