Chipotle Is Going To Close ALL Of Its Stores!!!

Filed under: Sad SadFoodHealthFast FoodSickFood PornViral: NewsControversy

Say it ain't so!

We wish we were lying. We wish this was just a seriously messed up internet hoax. But sadly, we aren't and it's not.

Chipotle will be closing ALL of its restaurants on February 8, AKA the end of the world. Now, you might not believe us, but there is actually a silver lining to this horrible news.

The burrito giant is not — we repeat, is NOT — shutting its doors for good. It's not even going dark for a full week! Phew!

A rep for the popular chain told E! News that all of its stores will be closing for a few hours on that fateful February day so all U.S. employees can sit down for a national meeting about the recent E. coli outbreak.

During this time, execs will answer any and all questions from the staff about the health issue that shut down 43 branches last year and got 80 Boston students sick.

The corporate big wigs will also discuss their marketing strategy for this post-E. coli era.

And right now Chipotle's Quesadilla King, we mean CEO, Steve Ells is optimistic that the fast food joint will be able to bounce back really soon. He revealed during an investor conference on Wednesday:

"I'm hopeful that the CDC will call this over soon. We know that Chipotle is as safe as it's ever been before. We are all very confident that this E. coli outbreak would not happen again."

But until then, plan accordingly for those delicious doors to close nationwide for a limited amount of time on February 8!

Chipotle Spin-Off ShopHouse Features Asian Specialities

ShopHouse Logo

You won't find a burrito at Chipotle's much buzzed about Asian spin-off restaurant, ShopHouse Kitchen.

Sources have confirmed that the Southeast Asian inspired fast food joint will feature noodles and rice, topped with meat, vegetables and/or Asian condiments like nuts and sauces inspired by food found in Thailand, Malaysia, and China.

You may find a similar decor though. If you're comfortable around simple, stainless steel designs and ordering behind a counter, the ShopHouse Kitchen may replace your weekly trip to Panda Express. If, of course, the chain goes national.

So far only one location in Washington DC has opened, but has been met with generally positive reviews, like this one:

"My thoughts: good food, small portions. I had a bowl with rice noodles, tofu, Chinese broccoli, and tamarind sauce. The food was nicely spicy (good for me, but definitely too spicy for some friends of mine). Everything was fresh and flavorful and the stand out to me was the Chinese broccoli. The staff was friendly and the kitchen was bopping. Steve Ells (founder of Chipotle) was even there to say hi at the end of the counter! My only complaint: I left kinda hungry. For a similar price I can go get more food at any of the other Asian fusion places nearby."

The same thing could have been said for Chipotle when it first opened, so we imagine it's only a matter of time before they start popping up in every major city.
