'Affluenza' Teen's Mother Tonya Couch Gets $1 Million Bail Reduced To $75,000 — Because She's Apparently Broke!
Tonya Couch's lavish lifestyle may have been what caused her son to suffer from "affluenza" — but these days, she can't even pay her legal bills!
The 48-year-old's bail was reduced from $1 million to $75,000 on Monday after her older son Steven McWilliams testified that she has no money.
Couch was arrested after being caught in Mexico with her other son Ethan Couch — who killed four pedestrians in 2013 but got off due to his "affluenza."
The mother-son duo went on the run after a video surfaced of Ethan violating his probation at a party. Facing jail time for violating his probation, the 18-year-old still remains in a Mexican jail and is fighting extradition to the U.S.
Even though Tonya's son alleges she is broke, law enforcement officials said last week she took $30,000 from a bank account and cut ties with her son's dad before heading to Mexico.
Tonya posted bail Monday night and is expected to be released on Tuesday.
She will reportedly be required to wear an electronic ankle monitor, pay a monthly $60 supervision fee, and report to authorities on a weekly basis.
Boy, do things have a way of working out for this family!
