Sad news for all you dope smokers out there.

A Dutch judge upheld his government's plan to introduce a "weed pass" to prevent foreigners from buying that sweet sweet chronic from coffee shops in the Netherlands.

The problem is that this will literally destroy Amsterdam's tourism industry. Eberhard van der Laan, the city's mayor, wants to work out a compromise.

A lawyer for coffee shop owners said he'd file an urgent appeal against the ruling.

Soon, if the plan goes into effect, as is planned next year, only Dutch residents will be able to join the coffee shops, which will be reclassified as private clubs.

Why would anyone want to do this?

Was it because foreigners kept O.D.ing on all the sticky icky?

Oh wait… that's impossible. Hmmm. Maybe they hated all the weird looking foreign money?

They say it's because Belgians and Germans cross the border, buy tons of legal weed, then smuggle it home and sell it for a profit.

How is that a Dutch problem?

What's good for all you pot fiends out there is that the coffee shops have said they actually plan to just totally disregard the new law.

They hope they get taken to court so they can see how the law will hold up in a real trial.

So, if you really want to go smoke some bud in Amsterdam you better go soon before the new law bans foreigners from blazing up or munching on some space cake.
