More TV On Computer Than TV

Piano TV Absent

Inneresting!

According to a study, we're watching more TV on a computer than we do on a TV!

Here's what the source says:

"That is according to a just-released consumer research study from PwC (PricewaterhouseCoopers). The study found that across all age groups, respondents watched 12.4 hours of TV shows/videos and movies online, while only 8.9 hours of that content on network TV and basic and pay cable."

So, how are people watching things?

The smallest way is on mobile phones and platforms, the largest being the actual computers.

Even more interesting is to look at the figures for how people are obtaining movie content (legally, of course):

When asked about the ways they obtain movie content, only 12.9% cited purchasing via VOD from their cable company, which put that ninth on the list behind streaming from Hulu for free (30.7%), renting from an actual brick and mortar store (23.3%), or borrowing one from a friend or relative (19.8%). The two top answers were renting an actual copy from a Netflix (42.6%) and renting an online copy (31.7%).

Netflix is pretty rad, we do have to say, but it's also kinda staggering to see it there at 42.6%! Times really are changing, LOLz!

So, how do U watch TV and movies??

Reason For 1 In 5 Divorces In The US: Facebook

Filed under: Love Line > Facebook

Facebook May Cause Divorces

Married?

On Facebook?

Better keep it all cool with the catching up with old friends and watch out, because it's being reported that 1 in 5 divorces in the US have cited Facebook as a reason.

According to a study:

Facebook is cited in 1 out of every 5 divorces in the United States, according to a recent survey by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML). Furthermore, 81 percent of the country’s top divorce attorneys say they have seen an increase in the number of cases using social networking evidence during the past five years. Last but not least, Facebook is the unrivaled leader for online divorce evidence with 66 percent citing it as the primary source.

Oh shizz!

Don't panic if you think that Facebook will destroy the world your marriage on purpose. Most of the splits are because of strained marriages to begin with.

But just the fact that you're on a "social network," something built specifically to help you be more social with everyone, means it's easier to get caught up in intimate situations and conversations that are prone to lead to more severe forms of cheating!

So what can you do about it?

How about:

"Remind yourself why you’re using a given service and regularly assess your intentions with the people you’re frequently communicating with. Facebook may not call itself a dating website, but hundreds of millions use it to connect on varying levels. Intimate conversations, even online ones, should only be reserved for your significant other."

Sounds easy enough if you just take the time to think about what you're doing, and how your significant other could be affected by it!

Right??

Are U married and worried about your spouse cheating on Facebook??

Women Love Social Media Us!!!

Filed under: Tech Talk > Twitter > Facebook

Elizabeth Hurley Is Tweeting

According to a new study, the majority of social media users are women in their 30's!

Here are the stats:

"The most active social media users are 18- to 34-year-olds (82% contributing) and women (78%, vs. 66% of men), according to the survey. Women in their 30s are the heaviest contributors, while non-contributors tend to be older and male."

Wow!

And when we say that the women are the majority, we mean this:

"Women and young people are the most active users of social media today, and women in their 30s make up more than half of heavy contributors — that is, they engage in six or more social media activities."

Six or more social media activities?? That's staggering!

How much do U e-socialize??

Thanks for making us part of your daily routine!

Study Shows That Men Are Distracted By Sexy News Anchors

men dont listen to sexy news anchors

Are male readers actually reading any of this? Or are you just staring at the photo??? LOLz.

According to a new study, even though sexy female news anchors may boost ratings, males are less likely to retain much actual news from them, because they get distracted.

Indiana University scholars have found that “men’s cognitive mechanisms favored visual over verbal processing.”

Ha! That's ONE way of saying "men get distracted by sexy women."

Studies were done with female anchors dressed in a desexualized manner, as well as a sexualized manner, and researchers found that men remembered “significantly more information watching the unsexualized anchor deliver news than her sexualized version.”

Guess guys should start keeping their eyes shut when Megyn Kelly is reporting the news…

New Study Finds That More Children Operate A Smart Phone Before They Can Tie Their Own Shoes!

new-study-finds-that-more-children-operate-a-smart-phone-before-they-can-tie-their-own-shoes

Well, isn't this just terrifying?

A new study has found that more young children know how to play with a smartphone than know how to tie their shoes!

According to the research on children and technology, done by AVG, 19% of children from two to five years old - in the US, Europe, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand - can play with a smartphone app, while only 9% know what to do with their effing laces.

Furthermore, more children in that age range can apparently open a web browser than swim on their own, and more can play computer games than ride a bike!

AVG CEO J.R. Smith explains:

“Technology has changed what it means to be a parent raising children today-–these children are growing up in an environment that would be unrecognizable to their parents. As our research shows, parents need to start educating kids about navigating the online world safely at an earlier age than they might otherwise have thought.”

Well, that's good and fine, but we think that you also need to educate kids on navigating the REAL LIFE world, AKA learning skills that will help them engage in physical activity and knowing how to be a functional human being!

Just saying!

BALANCE, people! Help your kids find a balance!

Thoughts??

New Study Shows FOX News Viewers Are Misinformed!

Filed under: TV News > Politik

fox-news-stupid-people.jpg

Hey, don't kill the messenger! Send all hate letters to the University of Maryland, where the study was conducted.

A group of researchers in the Program on International Policy Attitudes at the university concluded in their findings that people who admit to watching FOX News for their daily dose of information are sadly and strongly misinformed. What’s more, the study shows that greater exposure to FOX News increases misinformation.

Don't believe us? Let's check with the numbers from the survey. This is a list of what FOX News viewers believe to be true:

* 91 percent believe the stimulus legislation lost jobs
* 72 percent believe the health reform law will increase the deficit
* 72 percent believe the economy is getting worse
* 60 percent believe climate change is not occurring
* 49 percent believe income taxes have gone up
* 63 percent believe the stimulus legislation did not include any tax cuts
* 56 percent believe Obama initiated the GM/Chrysler bailout
* 38 percent believe that most Republicans opposed TARP
* 63 percent believe Obama was not born in the U.S. (or that it is unclear)

WOW.

We'll let the numbers speak for themselves in this case, but we should be fair in saying that the statistics for CNN weren't that great either, though they were better than FOX. Of all the outlets, MSNBC rated the highest for accuracy in information.

So, where do U get UR news from? (May want to rethink it now!)

New Study Shows That Troops Are Cool With DADT Repeal!

new study shows that troops are cool with repeal of dadt

It's been a great morning for supporters of the DADT repeal!

First, we get a wonderful message on the "Don't Ask Don't Tell" repeal by Lady GaGa, and now some positive results from a new study have come out!

According to the study, the majority of U.S. service members who were surveyed made it clear that they have NO PROBLEM with DADT being repealed.

Congress members will be taking an advance look at the study, and we really hope they take it seriously!

Thanks to the troops out there for the support! It is MUCH needed and MUCH appreciated!!!
