Gary Ross May Have Found His Next Movie! In Negotiations To Direct Houdini!

Well, we guess now that he's abandoned the directorial reigns of Catching Fire, Gary Ross has a lot of free time on his hands to pick his next project!

And according to new reports, he has done just that by beginning negotiations to helm the upcoming Houdini, a big-screen adaptation of the biography The Secret Life of Houdini, The Making of America's First Superhero by William Kalush and Larry Sloman!

Apparently, the novel focuses on theories that

Guess Which Twilight Actor Was Forbidden To Audition For The Hunger Games?!

Bummer! How good would he have been for Cato??? Right?!

Now that Twilight and The Hunger Games are all under one roof, the Powers That Be over at Lionsgate/Summit Entertainment have decreed that there will be no "crossover" between the two franchises. We don't know how far that rule is going to extend (like, running the trailer for the last Twilight movie before the first Hunger Games?), but we do know it means that one of the Twi-star was snubbed the chance to be in the new series.

Kellan Lutz revealed at Audi’s Super Bowl party this weekend that he loved the Hunger Games script and really wanted to audition, but was told he couldn't because of his role in Twilight.

Whomp, whomp! Not cool people with all the money running the studio! Not cool!

Don't fret, Kellan. You never know what might happen. Maybe they'll change their minds by the second flick and you can play Finnick! That's a better part anyway!

lionsgate purchases summit entertainment

Welcome to UR new home, Twi-Hards!

Earlier this week, we learned that Lionsgate was on the verge of acquiring Summit Entertainment for around $700 million!

We had heard that $400 mill of that amount would be in cash, and the rest would take care of the debt that Summit brings with them.

Now, Lionsgate has officially purchased Summit for $412.5 million!!!!

Here's what Lionsgate Co-Chairman/CEO Jon Feltheimer and Vice Chairman Michael Burns had to say about the deal in a statement:

Breaking Dawn Breaks The Opening Day Record In The U.K.!

It may have only made a mere $139.5 million in the state, landing it in third place for the best opening weekend in US history, but Edward and Bella's undying love shook up the box-office overseas in a big way!

This morning, it was announced by U.K. and Irish distributor Entertainment One that the fourth film of the franchise, The Twilight Saga: Breaking - Part One, broke the record this weekend for the biggest opening ever for an American film in the U.K. It grossed £13.9 million ($21.7 million), with Twi-Hards booking it to every available theater to see how the first part of the two-part story would come together.

The flick also did fairly well in Spain with Spanish box office receipts revealing that over 1.3 million tickets sold for the movie, a new high for an opening weekend in Spain for 2011.

Not too shabby, Summit Entertainment! Not bad at all!

There are tons more stills to share, so we put them all in the gallery below for you enjoyment! But don't squeal too much! Save some of that stuff for November 18th!

Milla Jovovich Takes On Summit For Not Promoting The Three Musketeers!

All the more reason we LOVE Milla Jovovich!

Not only does she always seem like a genuinely sweet, grounded indiviual - but she clearly has no problems calling it exactly how she sees it, even if it involves tearing down the production company of her own film!

The actress took to Twitter to throw some serious shade at Summit Entertainment, for what she perceives to be a failure to promote her latest film, The Three Musketeers, in the United States!

She writes:

"'3 musketeers' opens in the US 2night! Do you think ppl know abt the movie?"

"I think 'summit' hve swept '3 Musketeers', a grt family adventure film, under the rug in the US. Shame on them. SHAME ON YOU 'SUMMIT.'"

"Are 'summit' promoting it as a family adventure movie? Or are they resting on their laurels from 'twilight' n making no effort? Let me know!”

Damn! Burn!

And probably true!

We haven't seen her latest, and frankly, we haven't HEARD much about it either, so we're pretty sure she's making a valid point - especially with the impending release of Breaking Dawn!

Such a shame!

Keep speaking out, gurl! You have a right to be P.O.'d!

Eminem's Southpaw Finally Gets Studio Backing

Which means we'll finally get to see this thing!

It's been a long time coming, but it seems that Eminem's return to movies will actually make it to the big screen after all. MGM announced today that they have closed a deal to make Em's project a relaity, with Sony Pictures attached to distribute. There was talk that either Alcon Entertainment or Summit Entertainment would pick the movie up, but MGM beat them all to it.

Just as a refresher,
