Kate Upton looks pret-ty darn good on the front of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, but her slimmed down appearance was no accident. The model "worked her butt off" for three months prior to the shoot with celebrity personal trainer Justin Gelband, who has also helped stars like Josh Duhamel, Topher Grace and Anne Hathaway get into perfect shape.

Before dishing on the strategic approach he took to mold Kate's body into cover model material, Gelband advised that anyone looking to improve their body image themselves shouldn't look to other's workouts, explaining:

We imagine there is a lot of pressure to look perfect once you've been selected to appear on the cover of the annual Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, but 2012 cover model Kate Upton didn't let it get to her.

The hot blond revealed at the launch of the issue on Tuesday that she "just cut out some more of the splurges." She didn't do anything "drastic" beyond a healthy diet and fitness routine because "they want you to be curvy and sexy."

Some of those splurges could include "a cupcake," but she ultimately said, "It doesn't matter!"

Well, there goes that surprise!

The 2012 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover was not supposed to be revealed until Monday night on The Late Show with David Letterman, but some copies were shipped early to a gas station in Michigan and KABLAM — the cover was instantly uploaded online.

As you can see above, Kate Upton has landed the coveted cover of the issue just one year after being named Rookie of the Year in the 2011 issue.

Clearly, this hot 19-year-old (yeah, she's still a teenager) is going places.

Just in time to soothe the single and lonely hearts who feel left out on Valentine's Day, Sports Illustrated will reveal the cover and models of their annual swimsuit issue on Monday, February 13th during The Late Show with David Letterman.

Following last year's successful bit, 10 of the beautiful models will present Letterman's Top Ten List, then the cover model will appear as a guest on the show the next day!

We're sure every guy in America will want to see this broadcast, but we'd like to advise any boyfriends out there to TiVo this shizz because making your girlfriend watch a show centered around hot models on Valentine's Day is NOT romantic!
