UPDATE 5:58 PM EST: Tasya released the following statement to Us Weekly regarding the 2009 incident:
"In 2009, Amber was wrongfully accused for an incident that was misinterpreted and over-sensationalized by two individuals in a power position. I recount hints of misogynistic attitudes toward us which later appeared to be homophobic when they found out we were domestic partners and not just ‘friends.' Charges were quickly dropped and she was released moments later. It's disheartening that Amber's integrity and story are being questioned yet again. Amber is a brilliant, honest and beautiful woman and I have the utmost respect for her. We shared 5 wonderful years together and remain close to this day."
As we reported, everyone was shocked on Tuesday when reports surfaced of Amber Heard's prior domestic violence arrest — especially considering she's accusing estranged husband Johnny Depp of assault.
Well, now it sounds like the 2009 incident was a big misunderstanding.
According to TMZ, Amber's ex-girlfriend Tasya van Ree says the airport arrest was totally uncalled for as it wasn't "that violent."

Sources close to Miz Heard say it was simply a "lover's spat" when Amber grabbed onto Tasya's arm.
The artist claims to have never wanted the now-30-year-old actress cuffed and carried off, but once cops found out they were partners, they viewed it as domestic violence. Authorities suggest that wasn't the case at the time.
Once again, it's a case of he-said, she-said here, but it certainly helps Amber's story to have her ex backing her up!
