It's been nearly 11 years since Teresa Halbach was murdered, but thanks to the success of Making a Murderer on Netflix, the controversial case is still getting new developments to this day.

That's because it was reported on Friday that the 52-year-old Wisconsin native has already taken new DNA tests to "conclusively establish his innocence" once and for all… he just needs them to be analyzed!

According to a hand-delivered motion from Steven's lawyer Kathleen Zellner, the improved tests would be "the most comprehensive, thorough, and advanced forensic testing ever requested by a criminal defendant in the State of Wisconsin," saying:

She just got law schooled!

There may still be a strong debate over whether Making A Murderer star Steven Avery actually murdered Teresa Halbach, but the same can't be said about Avery's nephew Brendan Dassey — whose conviction of Halbach's rape and murder was overturned by a federal judge last week.

Most people who watched the Netflix docu-series cheered over the case's newest development, but Nancy Grace isn't among those applauding the release of the 26-year-old.

On Monday night's taping of her HLN show, Grace asked attorney David Bruno to explain how a judge could overturn Dassey's conviction.

The attorney cited the fact that Dassey's statement was not voluntary, and video evidence shows that officers used "promises and pressures" to coerce him into involuntary confession during his interrogation.

But Grace wasn't impressed by that answer, and responded by saying

It's finally happening!

Netflix had a surprise hit in late 2015 when Making a Murderer introduced the world to the potentially wrongful convictions of Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey.

The uncle and nephew pair were found guilty to varying degrees of the 2005 murder of Teresa Halbach despite glaringly obvious evidence of police incompetence… but fans will be happy to know that the case just had a new development!

That's because a federal judge just overturned Brendan's conviction on Friday on the grounds that his coerced confession violated his Fifth and Fourteenth Amendment rights!

U.S. Magistrate Judge William Duffin went on to say that Brendan must be released from custody in the next 90 days unless prosecutors attempt to retry him… but hopefully this good news will at least lead to a retrial for Steven as well.

We will continue to update you as this story develops.

Now we get why they waited so long to greenlight more episodes!

One of the biggest surprises out of pop culture in 2015 was how successfully Netflix's true crime documentary Making a Murderer connected with audiences seemingly out of nowhere.

However, despite how passionately fans came to the support of potentially wrongfully convicted killers Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey in the case of Teresa Halbach's murder, the streaming service suspiciously never renewed the series for Season Two… until now!

It would seem as though Netflix simply wanted to wait and see how well the show really did with critics as opposed to just viewers before making any decisions, because just five days after the doc was nominated for a staggering six Emmy nominations, Making a Murderer was officially given a second season!

VP of Original Documentary Programming Lisa Nishimura praised creators Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos for their hard work in the renewal announcement on Tuesday, saying:

At least there's some justice in the world!

Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey may still be sitting behind bars for a crime many people don't believe they committed, but their case may soon get even more exposure than it did with Making a Murderer.

That's because Dean Strang, the attorney associated with the Teresa Halbach murder case, is getting his very own TV show!

Objection: Leading the witness.

Making a Murderer has become a cultural phenomenon ever since viewers started seeing the way the criminal justice system failed Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey.

Even if you believe that the uncle and nephew pair are responsible for the death of Teresa Halbach, it's impossible to not question the validity of the investigation, trial, and eventual conviction.

That's why the news that Brendan once told his mother that Steven sexually abused him is even more maddening.

The Wrap recently uncovered a transcript between Brendan and Barb Tadych where the then-16-year-old accuses his uncle of touching him inappropriately back in 2005, saying:
