How High Is Too High? Driving In Colorado Worries The State

marijuana colorado high state driving illegal

Here's the thing about legalizing pot — how do you stop people from driving when there isn't a good way of testing like breathalyzers do for alcohol? How do you convey to someone that they're "too high" to drive, when it isn't really quantifiable?

It's just super hard to determine whether or not someone is too high to drive because

Toyota is testing a new car safety system that will allow their vehicles to talk to each other and with the roads they drive on!

They're testing the new vehicles at the Intelligent Transport System site where cars get info from sensors in the road and the other cars.

It's meant to help motorists avoid running red lights, cars merging into their blind spot, and to alert them of crossing pedestrians and much more!

IOC Anti-Doping Chief Can't Guarantee Clean Olympics

Then what's the point, if the Olympics aren't clean??

Honestly, if they aren't clean, we should just let everyone dope — that way the spectacle is just nuts!

Right??

Wrong.

Everyone wants to see a fair game, and it's a shame that there are cheaters out there.

Good luck to all the HONORABLE players out there!

We just wish they'd all get caught (and banned).

Muffins Could Be Used To Help Diagnose Diabetes

Muffins Diabetes

Diabetes is way too common, but diagnosing it can be kinda tricky.

There's one method that asks the patient to fast the night before and then drink a super-sugary solution the next day at the doctor's office to see how the body reacts to the sugar. People don't really like that, and usually feel pretty ill after drinking all that stuff regardless if they have diabetes or not.

So some doctors want to use muffins instead!

A Fast And Cheap HIV Test Is On The Way

hiv-fast-easy-chip.jpg

A new fast and cheap HIV test called "lab on a chip" has successfully detected both HIV and syphilis in a new test among a Rwandan population.

The device is a clear, credit card-shaped piece of plastic that produces test results within 20 minutes. It offers a faster, cheaper, and easier way to detect such diseases.

Cheap HIV tests that provide results within 30 minutes have been available for years, but it's an outdated method.

VP at RTI International Doris Rouse says:

"This is a big step. What’s especially exciting about this device is that it’s rugged, easy to use and doesn’t require a lot of infrastructure or training.

This [new] test can be done outside the lab with all the same advantages and sensitivity [for detection]."

Experts say the chip could be available within two to three years, but only if companies are willing to fund it. This is not only an important step in preventing HIV in newborns, but it's also a great investment. We don't see why companies wouldn't want to fund the chip. Here's hoping it becomes a reality.
