A new poll surveyed by the National Journal has found that most Republicans believe same-sex marriage should be avoided.
According to the study, 56% believed avoidance of the issue would work best for the GOP's goals. This is much larger than the 37% that believed the same in 2009.
Still, 30% oppose it and feel the party should openly oppose it as well (50% in previous polls).
