The Cannes Film Festival is going to the Dogs!!!

Aside from acknowledging human superstars, the festival unofficially honored the top K-9 to bark up the big screen with the Palm Dog Award on Friday!!!

The Jack Russell terrier who stole the show in The Artist has got himself a memoir and it's set to hit stores this fall.

Jimmy Kimmel pointed out on his show that Uggie may not be who he says he is.

He showed that the dog in The Artist had different coloring than Uggie.

But Uggie came on the Jimmy Kimmel Show to clear his name.

Scandal!

Jimmy Kimmel has a bone to pick with Uggie the dog!

Kimmel claims the dog that went to all the red carpet events and visited his show was not the same dog that starred in the film The Artist.

Even though Uggie retired from his film career after starring in Best Picture Winner The Artist he was still able to ride his fame right into the position of Nintendo's spokesdog!

He will be appearing in new ads for the Nintendo 3DS.

A Nintendo rep said:

"Uggie didn't have to sit up and beg for his role. It's truly our pleasure to work with a star of Uggie's magnitude."

Sadly, Uggie has been fighting a mysterious neurological disorder and this is what had led to his retirement from films.

His trainer said:

"It is a shame this has happened when he is getting the biggest success of his career, but we feel the best thing to do is to retire him after the Oscars."

Awww, we hope he's okay.

And we're glad he's still getting work cause we wanna see more of his cute face!

Oh no! Don't be embarrassed, Uggie!

Contrary to most reports, (even from us) Uggie the wonder dog from The Artist will not be performing in a sketch with Billy Crystal at the Oscars.

A spokesperson for The Weinstein Company, distributors of The Artist said:

"Uggie has not been asked to participate or appear at the Oscars."

So now it looks like Uggie won't even be walking the red carpet!!

We're so upset.

We were soooo looking forward to seeing his cute little face strut that red carpet.

We can only hope there will be a surprise Uggie performance or maybe someone will sneak him into the Oscars in a large handbag.
