Quite an ambitious project for the reality producer!

Survivor/The Apprentice/Sarah Palin's Alaska producer Mark Burnett is putting together a 5-part, 10-hour religious docu-drama based on The Bible, which will air on The History Channel in 2013.

Here's what History Channel president/general manager Nancy Dubuc had to say about the project:

"This is probably the most important book in mankind, regardless of your beliefs or religious affiliation. This series will bring the historical stories of the Bible to life for a new generation."

"We spend a lot of time talking about this book, and probably not enough time knowing what's in it. One of the most important things about history is knowing the stories of history."

We agree that The Bible is a very important book…but are we 100% sure that a producer from Sarah Palin's reality show is the right guy to tell the story of the holy book?

It seems like he's pretty comfortable with his choice, so more power to him!

Jim Caviezel, who portrayed Jesus in Mel Gibson's controversial film, The Passion of the Christ, recently spoke out about portraying the son of God on film during a speech at a Florida mega-church in promotion of a new audiobook version of the Bible, and claimed that his participation in the click resulted in being shunned by Hollywood!

He explained:

"I was rejected in my own industry. [Prior to filming, Mel Gibson] He said, 'You'll never work in this town again.' I told him, 'We all have to embrace our crosses.' In my 33rd year, I was called to play Jesus. Jesus is as controversial now as he has ever been. Not much has changed in 2,000 years. Mel Gibson, he's a horrible sinner, isn't he? Mel Gibson doesn't need your judgment, he needs your prayers."

Well, it seems as though it was a very important role for him to take, at least spiritually, so we hope that he doesn't look back with too much regret!
