In his new movie, we mean.
James Franco wrote, directed, produced and starred in a movie called The Broken Tower.
It's a biopic about the American poet Hart Crane who committed suicide when he was 32 by jumping off of a steamship.
The film has gotten lot of negative critical attention, especially around a blow job scene where he performs oral sex on a man. But bring on the haterade — James can totally take it! He explained in a new interview:

Sure. Hart Crane! He's a poet! (And you didn't even know it.)
Writer, director, actor, artist, author, student, Oscar host and serial killer James Franco invites you to see his new movie, The Broken Tower. It's just what you would expect from a movie that stars James, while also being written and directed by him: overly artsy with a dash of thematic "gay" and at least one scene that is going to make more than half the people who see the movie uncomfy (he's going to — to be delicate — fellate an erect, prosthetic penis.)
But if you're looking for one movie where you an ogle both James and Dave Franco along with Michael Shannon all in shades of grey, then this one is for you! Check out the trailer (above), which will tell you nothing about the movie itself, but everything at the same time.
