Ben Affleck is just oozing pure awesome!

The political-minded crusader for good went to Capitol Hill to testify before the Senate State, Foreign Operations and Related Programs Subcommittee.

Flanked by fellow world-saving hero Bill Gates, Ben began his passionate speech about getting more U.S. foreign assistance to further economic development programs in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

He loves the Congo and has been doing charity work there ever since his first visit seven years ago.

Before getting too far into his speech, he had to stop and call out his fellow Batman co-star… Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.)!

Senator Leahy actually has a bit of a Batman history!

He was a background actor in 1997's Batman & Robin, had his face grabbed and threatened with a knife by Heath Ledger's Joker in The Dark Knight and even had a speaking role in The Dark Knight Rises on the Wayne Enterprises board!

So Ben's little joke went over pretty well.

Check out the video (below) to see Ben Affleck being his wonderful, charismatic self, but also feel free to listen to his entire speech. He's a smart man with a lot of good things to say.
