larry david joins three stooges movie

Pret-ty impressive that the Farrelly Brothers were able to land him!

Peter and Bobby Farrelly are currently closing a deal with Larry David to play Mother Mengele, a nun who runs the orphanage where the stooges grew up and learned their mischievous ways.

Last week, we heard that Jane Lynch had also signed on to play a nun from the Stooges' orphanage.

Should be very inneresting to see these two interact with each other.

What do U think about Larry David in The Three Stooges? Will he make a good addition to the cast?

Jane Lynch Joins The Stooges!

The supporting cast is just as impressive as the Stooges themselves!

Sparing no expense, huh Peter and Bobby? We approve!

Jane Lynch has just closed a deal to star in The Three Stooges, alongside Sean Hayes, Will Sasso and (supposedly) Chris Diamantopoulos. Jane will be ditching her Glee track suit for a habit as she'll play Mother Superior, the nun who runs the orphanage where the trio of loons grow up, despite her best efforts to get them adopted.

Inneresting! The bigger the cast grows, the more intrigued we are with the plots of the vignettes. We imagine this one will be the first, since we sense it will be setting up some backstory about the guys.

Thoughts?

Poifect! Sofia Vergara In Talks To Join Three Stooges Movie

Hey Moe, whatdya know?!

No, no. That would be redunkulous!

We're happy to report that Sofia Vergara is in deep talks to join the cast of Farrelly Brother's flick, The Three Stooges.

As it has been mentioned before, the movie isn't a biopic, but a series of vignettes. Sofia would be be playing the wife of a dying man in the second vignette who attempts to pay off the Stooges in exchange for killing her hubby in his sleep!

Nyuk Nyuk Nyuk! Such shenanigans!

We're really so pleased at how many movie offers Sofia is getting. She's a terrific lady and she deserves to have a big career here in the states. So far, so good!

Scooch over, Will Sasso! You've got some company!

Sean Hayes, most notably famous as "Just Jack" from Will & Grace, has been signed to play Larry in the planned Farrelly Brothers' Three Stooges flick.

So, that's Larry and Curly - what about Moe???

Is Hank Azaria still in talks? We'd be down for that! Or maybe, just maybe…have you had a change of heart, Benicio del Toro? Hmm???

Either way, it looks like this thing is finally coming together.

How do U feel about Sean taking the role of Larry? Good fit?

Holy Shiz! Cher In Talks For The Three Stooges Remake!

Filed under: Film FlickersJim CarreyCherSean Penn

We didn't know how they would resusciate this one after their proposed leads dropped out, but we certainly think that this plan could do the job!

The Farrelly Brothers are busy promoting their new flick, Hall Pass, but are also using that time to reveal some fun new details about their upcoming big-screen revamp of The Three Stooges!

Although the original choices for the characters - Sean Penn, Benicio Del Toro, and Jim Carrey - are now essentially defunct, the directorial team have claimed that they want to secure none other than CHER for the role of Mother Superior, the nun that Larry, Moe, and Curly constantly terrorize!

Peter Farrelly explains:

"Cher is just the coolest chick ever. It's hard to describe. You meet a lot of celebrities in our business. We're not cowed by many of them. But Cher is bawdy, she's fun, she's cool, she's lived a life, she's got experience, she's humble. It's the humility that struck me the most. She's not really a diva."

Wow! Wouldn't that just be AMAZEBALLS?!

And as for the still-uncast trio, Bobby Farrelly reveals:

"We need to get the voices. The Stooges had very specific voices and we need to get as close as we can to that. We've seen some guys come in that are pretty spot-on, but at the same time there's something about them that's not funny. Just because they can do a great imitation doesn't mean you're going to burst out laughing when you watch it. There are unknowns who are amazing, and there are knowns who are amazing. And we want to be fair. If a complete unknown is the best, we want to go with that guy. I don't think we're going to improve on the Stooges. It's not going to better than what they did. If we can approach what they did, I'd be happy. There's nothing inside of me that thinks it's going to be funnier than what they did."

Peter adds:

"When you create a character, if someone goes off one way or another, you welcome that. But these guys are caught in a box. They must do it a certain way, and they also need to find a newness to it. It's a tricky thing. And there are some great actors who can be funny and have great comic timing but they can't be physical. We need athletes on top of everything else. The Stooges themselves, we can't beat. But I think we can beat the material. And it's because they didn't have a budget. We don't have a huge budget, but they didn't have anything. They were working on nothing. They were creating something out of thin air to put in the present day and put in the real world; updating it allows us to be better than they were. No matter what we do, some people will not like this movie, just because there are the purists who say 'You shouldn't be remaking it. Our feeling about it is this: We love the Three Stooges. And the Three Stooges never got the Class A treatment they deserve. They were never Laurel & Hardy, Abbott & Costello or the Marx brothers. They never got movies, and they never got the adulation in their lives that we feel they deserve. We've thought about it for 12 years. I literally lie in bed thinking about every single shot. I've never been more prepared to do a movie in my life."

Holy shiz! Talk about commitment!

With all of the time and thought they've clearly put into this, we sincerely hope that they can find the right cast and look that makes it successful!

And we DEFINITELY think that Cher is a step in the right direction! She would be absolutely INSPIRED casting!

What do U think?? Who do U want to see as The Three Stooges?

Three Stooges Movie Loses Entire Cast…And Sets Production Start Date

three stooges movie gets production start date

After a journey through development hell that would make Dante feel uneasy, The Farrelly Brothers have finally set a production start date of March 14 for their Three Stooges movie.

We're not 100% sure if this was the BEST time to set a concrete date, given the fact that the entire cast is no longer attached to the film, but we can appreciate the Farrelly Bros' perseverance.

Jim Carrey, Sean Penn, and Benicio Del Toro were all attached to the film as Stooges, but by now they've all left the project. According to reports, Benicio MAY still play Moe, but it is unclear at this point.

The Farrelly Brothers plan to begin casting immediately, and they are already in talks with Let Me In/Burn After Reading actor Richard Jenkins to play "the head nun who is terrorized by the precocious Stooges."

Here's what Peter Farrelly had to say about the project:

"The script is ready to go, and we are opening up these roles to the world right now. We'll make it with the best possible people. Our feeling is that no star is too big to audition and no matter who it is, we're going to have to see him in the role. This is not The Flintstones. You've got to be Moe Howard, Larry Fine and Curly Howard, and that could be a major movie star or an unknown."

And more from Farrelly:

"There will be non-stop slapping, more in the tone of Dumb and Dumber than anything else we've done. Our goal is 85 minutes of laughs in a film that will be very respectful of who the Stooges were. It's by far the riskiest project we've ever done, without question, but it is also the one closest to our hearts."

Certainly sounds like a risky undertaking, but we give you credit for continuing to push forward with this project, Farrelly Bros. You're clearly passionate about it, and we're sure that will be reflected in the final product.

Good luck, bbs! We'll keep an eye out for those casting announcements.
