Director David O. Russell Testing Actresses For Follow-Up To The Fighter

david o russell testing actresses for fighter follow up

Back in March, we first heard about the possibility of a sequel to Oscar-winning film The Fighter, and we didn't think it was a good idea.

As we said back then, we think that The Fighter was a wonderful film, with fantastic performances, and we don't want them to ruin the integrity of the original by sequelizing it.

Fortunately, it looks like they're not making a direct sequel right now, but director David O. Russell has

Is Christian Bale Boarding Noah's Arc?

Bale Noah

Christian Bale's definitely got the beard for it!

There is chatter about the Dark Knight showing his lighter side in Darren Aronofsky's biblical blockbuster Noah.

Although, let's be honest. If the guy who brought us Requiem For A Dream, The Wrestler, and Black Swan is behind this bible story, we doubt there will be anything light about it!

Bale, who won an Academy Award for his performance in The Fighter, has proven his ability to bring intensity to the screen as well, so we think this actor and director are a heavenly combination!

Do U think Christian Bale would be a good Noah?

Fright Night Team To Bring Us Pride And Prejudice And Zombies!

pride and prejudice and zombies in the works again

We haven't heard anything about the film adaptation of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies for quite some time, but now it looks like wheels are moving again!

We've just learned that Fright Night writing/directing team Marti Noxon and Craig Gillespie will be teaming up once again for Zombies.

The Fighter director David O. Russell wrote the script before leaving the project, and now Noxon will rework it before they move forward with production.

For those of you who haven't read the book, the story "retells Jane Austen’s classic tale about the romance between the independent Elizabeth Bennet and the snooty Mr. Darcy"…but there are zombies involved.

Sounds like it'll be a while before this movie actually starts production, but we'll keep our eyes peeled! Should def be a fun flick!

Are U excited to hear that wheels are moving once again on Pride and Prejudice and Zombies?

She may be gone, but she will certainly be remembered.

Alice Ward, who was portrayed by Melissa Leo in The Fighter, has passed away at 79-years-old.

According to family friend John Descoteaux, Alice died yesterday at a Boston hospital after being removed from life support. She had gone into cardiac arrest back in January, and ceased breathing for over 30 minutes.

Our thoughts go out to Alice's family and friends during this difficult time.

Biebs And Marky Mark To Team Up For Basketball Movie??

Biebs And Mark To BBall

And it's a drama!

Okay, so. We feel like we mislead you a bit because we said "basketball" movie. What we should have said was "street hoops" movie, because that's a much better fit for Justin Bieber.

Ha!

Can the Biebs pull it off? We're going to give him the benefit of the doubt for a few reasons, but the main one would be that Mark Wahlberg is taking him under his cinematic wing. We all remember where Mark started out, right?

As Marky Mark. He was last seen in the Oscar nominated The Fighter. So it can be done, and he knows how to pull it off. In fact, it was another movie that had a basketball connection that did it for him, The Basketball Diaries.

We'll be honest: The studio would be insane not to get this going. Never Say Never was made for $13 Mil, and made $97 Mil worldwide. He obviously has the draw, and we know he can act even just a little bit (CSI, baby!).

Go for it, Justin and Mark! We think the world is ready for it!

Would U see a Bieber starred movie??

A Sequel To The Fighter? No Thanks!

Filed under: Film FlickersSad SadMark WahlbergOscars

mark wahlberg talks fighter sequel

Can you PLEASE not sequelize your Oscar-winning film, Mark Wahlberg? It's fine as it is.

Here's Mark Wahlberg's thoughts on the possibility of a Fighter sequel:

"I weigh about 185. But it’s still solid. Ready to throw down. I got bit by the bug, and now I’m trying to plant the idea in everyone’s head that we should do — not five or six Fighters like Rocky — but one more because the big thing that Micky Ward was famous for was his three epic battles with Arturo Gatti. So we’re talking about possibly taking one more run at it."

Here's Mark on whether or not the original cast would return for the sequel:

"Yeah. Everybody had such an amazing experience making the movie that I can’t imagine they wouldn’t want to go back. But it’s still kind in the early stages."

And here's what Mark had to say when asked if the actual Micky and Dickie Ward liked the idea of a sequel:

"They’re both thrilled by the possibility. I just keep getting the phone calls…From Micky…saying 'Make sure you get it done.' "

We REALLY hope they don't go through with this. The Fighter was a wonderful film, with fantastic performances, and we'd be very, very nervous that they'd ruin the integrity of the original by sequelizing it.

Onto the next one, Mark!

Would U like to see a sequel to The Fighter?
