A Sequel To The Fighter? No Thanks!

Filed under: Film FlickersSad SadMark WahlbergOscars

mark wahlberg talks fighter sequel

Can you PLEASE not sequelize your Oscar-winning film, Mark Wahlberg? It's fine as it is.

Here's Mark Wahlberg's thoughts on the possibility of a Fighter sequel:

"I weigh about 185. But it’s still solid. Ready to throw down. I got bit by the bug, and now I’m trying to plant the idea in everyone’s head that we should do — not five or six Fighters like Rocky — but one more because the big thing that Micky Ward was famous for was his three epic battles with Arturo Gatti. So we’re talking about possibly taking one more run at it."

Here's Mark on whether or not the original cast would return for the sequel:

"Yeah. Everybody had such an amazing experience making the movie that I can’t imagine they wouldn’t want to go back. But it’s still kind in the early stages."

And here's what Mark had to say when asked if the actual Micky and Dickie Ward liked the idea of a sequel:

"They’re both thrilled by the possibility. I just keep getting the phone calls…From Micky…saying 'Make sure you get it done.' "

We REALLY hope they don't go through with this. The Fighter was a wonderful film, with fantastic performances, and we'd be very, very nervous that they'd ruin the integrity of the original by sequelizing it.

Onto the next one, Mark!

Would U like to see a sequel to The Fighter?

Hanks and Allen! Tom And Tim Together Again?

Tom And Tim To Team Up

Yeah, we realize that title sort of rhymes! Go us!

LOLz

So, after a shizz ton of money and a best picture nom for Toy Story 3, why wouldn't Disney be looking for more ways to pair up that fantastic duo of Tom Hanks and Tim Allen??

What's the new movie that might do just that?!

This:

Jungle Cruise, the live action film inspired by the venerable Magic Kingdom theme park ride. The studio has hired Roger S.H. Schulman to write a script that's being produced by Mandeville's David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman, who themselves are coming off a Best Picture nomination for The Fighter. No director yet.

Sounds like a great team so far!

We're willing to bet that even if it didn't turn out so awesome, that the pairing of these two alone will be enough for it to make a KILLING at the box office!!

Tom, Tim! Stop by and say hi!

Will U choose to see Jungle Cruise??

Christian Bale’s Oscar Plug Crashes Boxer’s Website

Christian Bale’s Oscar Plug Crashes Boxer’s Website

Christian Bale did a great thing at the Oscars — TOO great, actually!

After giving Dicky Eklund, the man who he portrayed in the film The Fighter, a shout out during his acceptance speech, the old boxing trainer’s website crashed due to too much traffic. It reportedly jumped from 500 hits to 10,000!

Said Bale during his speech:

“He’s had a wonderful story, and I can’t wait to see the next chapter of his story. If you want to be a champ if you want to train with him, go meet him… DickEklund.com.”

So awesome!

Christian Bale Strikes Back At The Fighter Critic

christian bale strikes back at film critic

At least this wasn't as bad as Christian Bale's Terminator: Salvation rant!

During an interview with the Australian edition of Empire Magazine, Bale got pret-ty heated while discussing criticism he's received for his "trademark weight loss" in The Fighter, as well as other films.

Here's what Bale had to say about it:

"To be honest, I find it laughable that it's considered to be some f****** gimmick - it's so patronizing. For God's sake, do people not understand what a pain it is to do? It's as though it's some comment about, 'Oh it's easy for him, because he's done it a bunch of times.' It's not easy, it's not fun - it's horrible."

"I would never pick to do that, but it's a part that I like and he's a welterweight and he's a crackhead. I don't know about you, but I've never seen a welterweight with any fat on him - or a crackhead. So it's just what you end up having to do.

"Somebody told me that somebody wrote something about my "trademark weight loss". I'd just like to p*** on that guy's shoes."

Okay, so urinating on footwear is not the MOST pleasant image, but we agree that it's kind of lame to criticize Bale for losing weight for films.

Bale's appearance DEF made him a more believable crackhead in The Fighter. Our biggest concern would be how such drastic changes in weight might affect his health.

Thoughts???

The Fighter's Melissa Leo Wants That Oscar!

Filed under: Film FlickersMedia MinuteAwardzAmy Adams

melissa leo starts own campaign for oscars

Watch out, Amy Adams!

Melissa Leo REALLY wants the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her work in The Fighter.

Melissa wants the Oscar SO much, that she's started a personal ad campaign, and has paid for Hollywood trade ads out of her own pocket.

Here's what she had to say about her decision to launch her own Oscar campaign:

“I took matters into my own hands. I knew what I was doing and told my representation how earnest I was about this idea. I had never heard of any actor taking out an ad as themselves and I wanted to give it a shot."

“I am quite certain I have not overstepped any boundaries of the Academy. I did hear a lot of very positive comments, particularly from women of a certain age who happen to act for a living and happen to understand full well the great dilemma and mystery of getting a cover of a magazine. I also heard there were negative comments, but no one said them to my face, sadly. I like to hear what people think. I could explain myself."

"All I ask of Hollywood is they consider Melissa Leo. If you want to hire me, give me a shout."

We totally appreciate what you're saying here Melissa, and we wish U the best of luck!

Do U think Melissa Leo deserves to win Best Supporting Actress this year?

The Social Network Takes Best Picture At Critics' Choice Awards

the-social-network-best-picture-critics-choice-awards.jpg

If this film doesn't get the Oscar for Best Picture, we'll be shocked!

The Social Network won yet another award, taking the top critics' award for best film of 2010 at the Critics Choice Movie Awards on Friday night.

The film took four awards, winning Best Picture, Best Director to David Fincher, Best Adapted Screenplay to Aaron Sorkin, and Best Score to Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.

Wowsa!

As for the best actor categories, Colin Firth took home the Best Actor award for The King's Speech and Natalie Portman took away the Best Actress award for Black Swan.

Christian Bale won Best Supporting Actor and his Fighter co-star Melissa Leo took the award for Best Supporting Actress. In fact, the entire cast received the award for Best Acting Ensemble.

The race to the Oscars is definitely on - and with The Social Network picking up awards left and right, it's most likely to win big at the Academy Awards.

Congrats to all the winners!

P.S. Natalie Portman, Christian Bale and the entire cast of The Fighter SO deserved those wins!!
