An Offer You Can't Refuse! The Godfather Game Coming To Facebook!

San Francisco-based social game developer Kabam is bringing the underworld to social networking. The company announced today that Paramount Pictures has agreed to license them their Oscar-winning film The Godfather to be turned into a social game for Facebook.

Now, fans of the already established game Mafia Wars might not care so much, but real movie buffs who love the classic film series might really get suckered into this. The game is called The Godfather: Five Families and takes place in New York City in the 1930s, a decade before where the first movie in the film trilogy starts. As a player, you are born into one of the five mafia families Francis Ford Coppola created and then you must find a way to become don, by any means necessary.

As always, the game is free to start, but not if you plan on making it to don. Then, you'll have to start spending a little cash to get the weapons and special skills you'll need.

Sounds fun for those who always wanted to be Brando. Not so much for anyone else.

Think U might join this family???

New Godfather Prequel Novel In Development

Move over, Gottis! The Corleone family wants another crack at the limelight!

Mario Puzo's bestselling mafia novel, The Godfather, spawned the Oscar-winning trilogy of films and worldwide norireity. Now, a new novel will hit shelves next summer based off an unproduced screenplay written by Puzo, who died of a heart attack in 1999. The book, The Family Corleone, will read as a prequel to the events of the original novel and will be constructed by Ed Falco, a novelist and ironically, the uncle of actress Edie Falco, aka Carmelo Soprano.

Geez, first Mob Wives, then the Gotti flick, now this. Hollywood's getting mafia crazy!

Paging David Chase! Might be time to dust off that Sopranos: The Motion Picture script you've been hiding!

Bye Bye, Blockbuster! We're Gonna Miss You So!

blockbuster going up for sale

At least this isn't unexpected. We've known this was coming for a while.

In an effort to save themselves from Chapter 7 liquidation, Blockbuster is putting itself up for a sale auction this April.

Disney, other Hollywood studios, AND other creditors are owed over $100 million by Blockbuster, but the company was able to reach an agreement with its creditors.

According to the agreement terms, Blockbuster has been given a proposed April 4 sale date, which will be "followed by a court hearing to approve the sale on April 7."

Guess we'll see if Blockbuster is able to survive on any level after the sale. Once they're gone, that will more or less mark the end of video rental stores.

Kinda sad. Netflix is great, but there was something kind of fun about the experience of browsing for movies in the store.

Plus, it was a social occasion too! No better way to strike up conversation than shared enthusiasm for The Godfather Part I or II or III.

Are U gonna miss Blockbuster?

Tyler Perry Brings The LOLz With New Movie Posters!

Oh, Tyler Perry!

What on EARTH do you have in store for us now?!

Check out the new posters for the director's latest ca$h cow flick, Madea's Big Happy Family, which, as you can see, may look a little familiar to the 'seasoned moviegoer' (above)!

LOLz! Yeah, not sure if this is a sign that he's just completely succumbed to self-parody at this point, but all we know is that his version of the Black Swan poster is about eight times more terrifying than the entirety of the actual movie!
