While Hitchcock co-stars Jessica Biel and Helen Mirren were in Beverly Hills, Scarlett Johansson remained in New York City on Tuesday to chat with David Letterman.

For her appearance, the buxom blonde wore a black Giambattista Valli halter dress, with a seksi keyhole detail.

A matching Stella McCartney coat shielded her from the chilly weather, Jimmy Choo heels kept her feet looking pretty and Fred Leighton added a hint of glamor.

Scarlett's up-do and makeup were very theatrical, but appropriate since she was promoting her new flick about the 1960s film Psycho.

Very retro chic!

Much like Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Hurricane Sandy ensured that an audience wouldn't be available for last night's broadcast of Late Show with David Letterman. Still, the show must could go on, and indeed it did, even without a single soul to entertain in the studio.

Instead of running through his opening monologue, however, he simply sat at his desk and told Paul Shaffer what his jokes would have been had there been people to laugh at them.

A different approach from Fallon, but still amusing.

Either way, anyone watching late-night television broadcast from the Big Apple on Monday night realized the awesome power of a live audience.
