Regardless of whether or not they were happy with her performance, this is still so rude!

Ms. Lauryn Hill demands respect, and she'll get it, no matter what!

The singer recently performed a small gig at the Sundance Film Festival Wednesday night, and although she once again did re-worked versions of old material from her last album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, some unnamed guests in the VIP section of the venue - which was roped-off and right in front of the stage - were reportedly so rude that they ignored the performance, with their backs turned to her!

Obviously, Hill didn't take too kindly to that - especially because they were blocking the view of audience members who were interested in being there - and promptly asked security "to move the crowd, you understand me?"

Good! We're glad to hear that she hasn't abandoned that part of her along with her old sound!

She may be difficult, but you can't help but respect her for calling it like she sees it!

She should be proud of herself!

Nicki Minaj's debut album, Pink Friday, landed the #2 spot on the Billboard Album charts, coming only below Kanye West's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, and selling 375,000 copies - a number a female MC hasn't bested since Lauryn Hill's The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill over ten years ago!

Minaj reveals:

"I feel this weird calm feeling. I'm just so grateful and kind of still in shock. These numbers haven't been put up since 1998. It just makes me feel proud of my team, proud of my fans, everyone who has had something to do with my dreams. Finally, we are seeing this dream come to fruition. It feels incredible. Now I can promote the body of work. I feel like I gave birth to my baby, now I'm gonna teach it how to walk and how to talk and spoil the baby."

We're shocked! She usually never speaks to the press!

With a few small exceptions, Lauryn Hill has been somewhat a recluse since the smash success of her 1998 album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, and hasn't recorded anything else.

Many have speculated that she had some sort of breakdown, but gurlfriend is finally putting all the rumors to rest by explaining why she left music behind!

She explains:

"There were a number of different reasons. But partly, the support system that I needed was not necessarily in place. There were things about myself, personal-growth things, that I had to go through in order to feel like it was worth it. In fact, as musicians and artists, it's important we have an environment — and I guess when I say environment, I really mean the [music] industry, that really nurtures these gifts. Oftentimes, the machine can overlook the need to take care of the people who produce the sounds that have a lot to do with the health and well-being of society, or at least some aspect of society. And it's important that people be given the time that they need to go through, to grow, so that the consciousness level of the general public is properly affected. Oftentimes, I think people are forced to make decisions prematurely. And then that sound radiates."

But rest assured, she is starting to perform again, and may even record another album!

"I'm trying to open up my range and really sing more. With The Fugees initially, and even with Miseducation, it was very hip-hop — always a singing over beats. I don't think people have really heard me sing out. So if I do record again, perhaps it will have an expanded context. Where people can hear a bit more."
