The Simpsons Finally Addresses Apu Controversy — Leaving Some Even MORE Offended! What Do YOU Think??

The Simpsons is in a tough spot.

When they first started 29 years ago, no one in the media batted an eye about the character of Apu Nahasapeemapetilon — an Indian immigrant who ran the local Kwik-E-Mart — except to applaud Hank Azaria for doing like 50 distinct voices (he's won three Emmys for his work).

But over the years, the criticism that he was a hurtful stereotype has gotten louder — something the show combatted by developing the character into one of the most well-rounded residents of Springfield.

Over the past few years the argument has gained more traction, culminating in a documentary by comedian Hari Kondabolu, who interviewed fellow South Asian performers about the impact of Apu on public and industry perception of them.

Well, The Simpsons finally addressed the argument in their season premiere — in a way that was NOT satisfactory to Kondabolu and many others!

Ted Cruz Just Tried To Insult The Democrats By Calling Them 'The Party Of Lisa Simpson' — And Twitter Can't Stop Laughing!

Oh, Ted Cruz

In a hilarious self-own from the most disliked man in congress, the Texas Senator said in his CPAC speech on Thursday:

"The Democrats are the party of Lisa Simpson, and Republicans are happily the party of Homer, Bart, Maggie, and Marge."

LOLz, we're pretty sure he was going for the numbers there, but anyone who has seen a single episode of The Simpsons knows that Lisa is the smartest, most reasonable person in a town filled with lovable but insipid buffoons who need to be saved from themselves. LOLz.

Of course, we weren't the only ones who couldn't help but smack around Cruz after such an idiotic gaffe!

The Simpsons Predicted Disney Would Buy Fox 19 Years Ago!

OK, how does The Simpsons do this?

First, they accurately predicted Donald Trump becoming president 16 years early.

Now, it turns out they were even EARLIER on Disney buy 20th Century Fox. That pic (above) is from an episode that aired on November 8, 1998!

We know they share some writers with Futurama, but that is some crazy prescience!

We guess Family Guy and The Simpsons DO have a lot in common
