morrissey cancels concert dates

Poor Morrissey!

While the former Smiths frontman had previously made announced his desire to retire from performing for good once he hit 55, it appears that he's been forced to put those plans on the fast-track due to increasingly problematic health issues described as a "series of medical mishaps"….and has officially canceled the remainder of his North American tour dates!

As we all know, the 53-year-old needed to postpone three dates back in January when he was hospitalized with a bleeding ulcer, then suffered double pneumonia earlier this month, as well as Barrett's esophagus, which is linked to long-term acid reflux!

A statement from his rep reads:

Mister And Mister Smith Will Not Re-Wed

Johnny Marr No Smiths Reunion Morrissey

Total bummer!

The Smiths will NOT reunite anytime soon if legendary axe-man Johnny Marr has anything to say about it.

And his vote should count — he’s their lead guitarist!

Marr e-crushed the hopes of millions of loyal listeners stuck in the '80s. He broadcast this message on Facebook:

“The rumour of the Smiths reunion is untrue. It's not happening.”

Remember a few months ago when this charming man told reporters he’d reform the band if the British government stepped down?

Yeah, that’s not happening.

Our guess?? His feud with former frontman Morrissey just won't go away.

Marr said in a recent interview:

"[Morrissey's] doing his thing and I'm doing mine, and we go through periods of time when we're in communication and at times when we're not. I'm not sure he wants to communicate, so I'll just carry on doing what I'm doing, and live my life and be a musician."

You guys need to hug it out already!

At least Morrissey keeps us entertained with his royal ragging on Ye Olde Queen.

Neither has commented on why Brits insist on spelling rumor with a second “u,” LOLz!!

Morrissey has been named PETA's UK person of the year for 2011.

Morrissey, ex-lead singer of the band The Smiths, has been an activist, fighting for the animals for quite some time now.

He even named one of their albums, Meat is Murder.

So throughout his summer tour, Morrissey always made sure to have information booths with PETA volunteers ready to share knowledge and vegetarian starter kits.

When Morrissey heard he was named person of the year he immediately wrote PETA's cofounder, Ingrid Newkirk, a letter that said:

The Smiths Are One Big Fashionable Family

What a good looking bunch of people.

The entire Smith family came out to support their good friend Justin Bieber at the premiere of Never Say Never on Tuesday night.

Obviously the fiercest of them all was Willow, who rocked a suit and Chanel logos that hung from her hair.

The other three stuck to a leather theme, with Will and Jaden wearing jackets and Jada in pants.

iTunes Holdouts!

kid-rock-acdc-and-garth-brooks-refuse-to-put-music-on-itunes

Now that The Beatles' music is now available to download on iTunes, there aren't too many acts left that haven't agreed to put their tunes out onto the digital marketplace!

But three have stood firm in their refusal, and apparently, here's why:

AC/DC

Frontman Brian Johnson explains:

"Maybe I’m just being old-fashioned, but this iTunes, God bless ‘em, it’s going to kill music if they’re not careful … It’s a…monster, this thing. It just worries me. And I’m sure they’re just doing it all in the interest of making as much…cash as possible. Let’s put it this way, it’s certainly not for the…love, let’s get that out of the way, right away."

Garth Brooks

He says:

"These [Apple] guys are sweet guys, but they’re businessmen, so they understand. … They truly think that they’re saving music. My hat’s off to them. I looked at them right across the table with all the love in the world and told them they were killing it. And until we get variable pricing, until we get album-only [downloads], then they are not a true retailer for my stuff, and you won’t see my stuff on there—with all the love in the world. That’s nothing that they haven’t heard, either."

Kid Rock

He says:

"I just don’t like being told what to do. I don’t have a beef with Apple, or iTunes, or any of them. I do have a beef with that it seems kind of socialist of them to charge the same price for every song. What if every car cost $4,000, you know what I mean? A song from my neighbor’s garage band is not the same value as Bruce Springsteen’s ‘Born to Run.’ I just want to decide how my product gets sold with the people who sell it."

Wow - we have to admit, although we don't agree, these guys make much better points than we expected them to!

Other artists currently unavailable for download include The Smiths, Tool, Def Leppard, Bob Seger, Black Sabbath, and Frank Zappa.

And it's their right as musicians to decide how their music is sold, so more power to them!

What do U think?? Do U agree with anything any of these guys have said??
