Sony Pictures Animation has acquired the rights to the character from the classic 80s sitcom and will be working on producing a live-action/CG feature, which will be similar in style to The Smurfs.
In case you forgot about this pop culture gem, ALF was about an "alien life form" named Gordon Shumway who crash landed on Earth and moved in with a suburban family for weekly HIGHlarity between 1986 and 1990.
If the producers behind the family flick can turnThe Smurfs into a $563 million hit, than we have faith they can do the same, if not even better, with ALF!

Meanwhile, Friends With Benefits holds at second place, with number one spots in Brazil and Finland, and Rowan Atkinson's still-unreleased in the United States Johnny English Reborn taking the third, having made $8.4 million from 2,313 screens, including Hong Kong, Norway, and Spain!
Over the years, Woody has publicly spoken out on his controversial relationship with his former step-daughter and current wife of twenty years Soon-Yi Previn. The two originally met while Woody was married to Soon-Yi's adoptive mom, Mia Farrow.
