Yoko Ono Launches 'Imagine There's No Hunger' Campaign

Yoko ono hunger campaign

Imagine how much better of a place the world would be if everyone had enough food.

That's what Yoko Ono, the widow of John Lennon, is doing.

As promised, she officially launched her Imagine There's No Hunger campaign on Tuesday in Times Square of New York City.

The event was kicked off by Yoko's first tweet to promote the movement as she stood alongside the President and CEO of Hard Rock International and the Executive Director of the partnering charity organization, WhyHunger. A moment of silence followed, along with the release of white balloons as a tribute to John and Yoko's first full art exhibition together.

The global campaign, running through the end of 2011, is aiming to fight childhood hunger by raising awareness and money.

Fans can show their support for the cause by either texting the word "IMAGINE" to 50555 to donate directly to WhyHunger or they can purchase the campaign's signature limited-edition bracelet at Hard Rock Cafe's around the world!

Laila Ali Helps Launch American Kidney Fund's 'Pair Up' Campaign

Laila Ali

A recent survey has revealed that Americans who take care of loved ones who are sick or have special medical needs had a surprising lack of knowledge about the leading causes of kidney disease!

For example, 85% could not name high blood pressure as a leading cause of kidney disease, while 74% of respondents have a loved one with high blood pressure!

Similarly, 69% could not name diabetes as a leading cause of kidney disease, despite 55% of survey participants having a loved one with diabetes!

Sadly, 9 out of 10 people with early kidney disease are completely unaware they have it. Since the disease can lead to heart attack, stroke, kidney failure and death, that statistic needs to change!

To help raise awareness for the silent killer, boxer and television personality Laila Ali joined the American Kidney Fund president and CEO, LaVarne A. Burton, in Manhattan on Thursday to launch the organization's Pair Up campaign.

They revealed an eye-catchingly informative billboard above the Times Square Studio that promotes the campaign encouraging women to protects themselves and loved ones from the disease.

It was found that only 1 in 4 doctors checked patients for the disease, so educate yourself about the symptoms and don't wait to be checked — ASK to be checked!

John McEnroe Joins Forces With Kristin Chenoweth And Judah Friedlander To Promote US Open

US Open tickets promotion

Kristin Chenoweth and 30 Rock actor Judah Friedlander joined four-time US Open champion John McEnroe in Times Square on Monday to promote the first time tickets for the U.S. Open have become available online!

The trio of celebs posed for pics next to a GIANT tennis racket and participated in a target challenge with a goal of hitting the most US Open targets across the net in 30 seconds.

McEnroe first faced off against the 30 Rock comedian who, believe it or not, hit more targets then the former tennis pro! After cheating of course. Ha!

The comedian stood inches away from the net and managed to hit 9 targets to McEnroe's 6, prompting the tennis great to demand a rematch, saying:

"That is not a good thing. He did cheat, but it was smart. I didn’t think of that. My best shot is a volley, so I have to demand a rematch."

Friedlander, who is a self-described "world champion" of the sport, goes to the US Open every year, but unfortunately has been banned from playing, explaining:

"As the world champion, I am the greatest athlete in the world, but I am banned from any sport. Tennis, may be my best sport, banned internationally because I serve too hard, which is why I am not playing at the US Open this year or last year or next year. But it is a great sport, so I am here to help out."

Too bad! We'd love to see him compete against Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer!
