TIME magazine's Person of the Year is here!
On Wednesday, it was revealed that German Chancellor Angela Merkel was named by the magazine as Person of the Year for her leadership skills surrounding the Syrian refugees and the Greek debt crisis. Color us impressed!

Editor Nancy Gibbs shared in a statement:
"Leaders are tested only when people don't want to follow. For asking more of her country than most politicians would dare, for standing firm against tyranny as well as expedience and for providing steadfast moral leadership in a world where it is in short supply, Angela Merkel is TIME's Person of the Year."
Well said! In fact, Miz Merkel will be the first woman to receive the Person of the Year recognition — though other women have been recognized as part of a group. Girl power!
However, you'll be shocked to learn that Donald Trump joined the Black Lives Matter movement and Uber CEO Travis Kalanick as one of the other finalists. Wait, really??
Be sure to ch-ch-check out the magazine's full reasoning behind the choice in Miz Gibbs' Today show interview (below)!
