Identity Thief Steals The Weekend Box Office From Warm Bodies And Side Effects!

identity thief 1

Glad to see that one nasty, completely out-of-line review didn't detract audiences from the GLORY that is Melissa McCarthy!

Hell, even the Snowpocalypse couldn't keep movie-goers away from her!

In fact, despite all of the odds, the actress' new comedy with Jason Bateman, Identity Thief, topped the weekend box by pulling in an estimated $36.6 million…the FIFTH biggest opening ever for a non-sequel R-rated comedy!

Sadly, however, it seems that Blizzard Storm Nemo DID take a bit of a toll on the flick's business, as Universal Studios projected that had it not been for all the snow, it could have surpassed the $40 million mark!

Hey! Whatever!

It still beat out last weekend's #1 film, Warm Bodies AND Channing Tatum's latest collaboration with Steven Soderbergh, Side Effects, which respectively pulled in $11.5 million AND $10 million!

There Were Some Warm Bodies Filling Up Seats At Movie Theaters This Weekend…And Not Much Else!

warm bodies box office

Sorry, Jeremy Renner!

The box office reign of Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters was short-lived!

But hey! What can you expect when facing up against a much-more-favorably-reviewed Twilight with zombies?!

That's right, Warm Bodies, which stars Jennifer Lawrence's ex Nicholas Hoult and a blonde, emotive Kristen Stewart Teresa Palmer as zombie apocalypse-crossed, brain-eating lovers, opened this weekend with an impressive $20 million - which is $10 million more than ANY other movie made between Friday and Sunday!

Sadly, this included Sylvester Stallone's latest non-Expendables effort, Bullet to the Head, which only raked in about $6.5 million and found itself barely afloat among Best Picture nominees and Jessica Chastain's Mama!

But want to know what's NOT so sad?

Movie 43 lost two-thirds of the already-abysmal ticket sales it managed to snag last weekend, and has fallen out of the top ten…and hopefully, out of our memories FOREVER!

Can we hear a resounding GOOD RIDDANCE from everyone, please?!

LOLz!

Hansel & Gretel Take Down Movie 43…And All The Other Box Office Competition!

hansel-gretel-witch-hunters-tops-weekend-box-office

As far as the weekend box office numbers are concerned, we guess it was a case of the lesser of two evils!

WELL…maybe not evil! But DEFINITELY the lesser of two SUPREMELY shiteous movies!

While Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters was reportedly described as the "the longest 90 minutes you [will] ever spend in a theater," it still managed to make the most money across the United States by garnering the majority of ticket sales from Friday-Sunday and ultimately made around $19 million!

That's right, more folks sat through THAT then Silver Linings Playbook, Zero Dark Thirty AND Django Unchained!

Thankfully, however, the same CANNOT be said for Movie 43 and the hole in hell out of which it crawled, because even with its plethora of A-list talent that we won't further embarrass by naming here, a majority of movie-goers were smart enough to stay FAR away…resulting in a cumulative $5 million and movie reviews that refer to it as LITERALLY the worst movie ever!

OUCH!

But hey! You can find out where Jennifer Lopez's latest Parker fits in among all of thisAFTER THE JUMP!!!

Movie Audiences More Interested In A Haunted House Than A Gangster Squad While Zero Dark Thirty Trumps 'Em All!

zero-dark-thirty-tops-weekend-box-office

Sorry, Leather Face!

Your box office reign in Texas Chainsaw 3D has come to an end after only one week, as it appears movie-goers were more interested in seeing Osama bin Laden killed instead of horny, poor-decision-making teenagers…and Trey Songz!

The critically-acclaimed Zero Dark Thirty made its wide-release debut this weekend and managed to take the number one spot in the domestic box office, having made an estimated $24 million between Friday and today!

And while Gangster Squad finally hit theaters, four months after its original release date, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, and Sean Penn COULD NOT keep up with Marlon Wayans, of all people, who's latest parody flick A Haunted House, secured #2 with $18.8 million!

Yeesh!

The First Weekend Box Office #1 Of 2013 Is…Texas Chainsaw 3D?!

texas-chainsaw-3d-first-weekend-box-office-number-one-2013

With flicks like Django Unchained and Les Misérables accelerating Oscar season into full swing, we were CERTAINLY not expecting this!

The first week of 2013 has officially come to a close, and with that, comes the surprise news that the biggest money-making movie of the year so far is none other than Texas Chainsaw 3D!

And even MORE surprising?!

According to exit polls for the latest addition to the horror franchise, one in THREE viewers cited Trey Songz making his first appearance in a motion picture as their main incentive for attending!

YUP!

Sorry, Tarantino! Sorry Anne Hathaway!

And especially sorry to Matt Damon, who's Promised Land went wide and only made $4.3 million from 1,600 screens!

You all just got side-lined for Leather Face!

Tom Cruise And Judd Apatow Tackled By The Hobbit In The Weekend Box Office!

the-hobbit-number-one-weekend-box-office-jack-reacher-this-is-40

Tom Cruise may be taller than a hobbit - not by much, mind you - but this weekend, our friends from Middle Earth towered above the A-list star…in the weekend box office!

After having the largest-ever December debut, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey continued strong for the second time, making an estimated $36.7 million between Friday and Sunday!

And THAT, friends, brings their domestic total to $150 million!

Jack Reacher, meanwhile, came in second with only $15.6 million…and Paul Rudd's This Is 40 followed close by with $12 million, making it the smallest-ever Judd Apatow-directed debut!

YEESH!

But honestly, what could they have expected?

Peter Jackson's adaptations of J.R.R. Tolkien is a STAPLE for the holiday season, after all!
