Crash In Nevada Results In Heartbreaking Loss Of 42,000 Pounds Of Ketchup!

Filed under: Wacky, Tacky & TrueFoodFast Food

ketchup spill truck accident nevada travelers reno traffic

Everyone head to your local McDonald's and console your devastated fries — a truck carrying 42,000 pounds of ketchup crashed on the I-80 in Reno, making commuting impossible for a lot of travelers!

Unless they got their be-Heinz in gear and began Hunts for alternate routes! LOLz!

The truck swerved to avoid a collision, hit the center median and then knocked over a light pole that slashed open the trailer. Cleverly, transportation used snow plows to clean it all up! That's actually some quick thinking, as we're sure someone suggested burgers (and someone suggested steak but got slapped by everyone who knows A-1 is better)!

We do have one question though: how do they transport the ketchup in the truck? Was it a giant vat like for gas? Thousands of bottles?

Why isn't anyone explaining this!

Oh wait, they are: it was thousands of individual bottles. Carry on! Ha!

shenae grimes bing party 01

Are any celebs NOT getting involved with Art Basel???

Last week, we learned that 90210's Shenae Grimes would be hosting an Art Basel photo exhibit called Travelers, which focuses on her time with street travelers in Venice.

The event, which was presented by Bing, took place on Saturday night in Miami, and it raised a total of $3,750 for My Friends Place, which is a homeless shelter in Hollywood!

Check out the photos of the event (above, and below), which looks like it was an absolutely wonderful occasion!

Wish we could have been there!

Hotels Offering Allergy Free Rooms

Hotel room allergies

Good news for frequent travelers who are part of the 40 million Americans who suffer from allergies!

Hotels are now offering "hypoallergenic" rooms that are thoroughly cleaned to reduce dust mites, bacteria and other irritants — for a price that is.

We knew there was a catch! Ha!

For a $25 premium, allergy sufferers can book a room that has been specially cleaned with eco-friendly disinfectants, air purified, and includes beds with linens that protect from dust mite allergens.

According a 2010 survey by the American Hotel & Lodging Association, 38% of hotels have an allergy-friendly option and hotels providing air purifiers more than doubled to 25% of respondents, up from 12% in 2008.

However, not everyone is jumping up and down about the increased premiums for increased protection.

Paul Williams, an allergy specialist, believes hotels should be offering "reasonable options" for allergy sufferers, instead of an expensive premium, saying:

"There really isn't any scientific evidence to support some of those (hypoallergenic claims). People are paying money they don't need to pay, but it's their choice."

Exactly! At least it is a choice, unlike paying for checked baggage on airlines.

If your allergies are so bad that you'll need to fork up a little extra dough for the added insurance you won't be breaking out in hives or sneezing up a storm, these premiums can only benefit you.

However, if an Allegra is all you need, than maybe it's a better idea to save your $25 for a nice dinner instead.
