Trent Reznor Talks Music, Acting, And The Return Of Nine Inch Nails!

Amazing!

As much as we've LOVED his soundtrack work, we're thrilled that we'll have more Nine Inch Nails soon!

Trent Reznor recently took his blog to discuss his work on the score of David Fincher's The Social Network and now The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, his return to NIN, and most surprisingly of all, his CAMEO in the upcoming Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter!

He writes:

What a surreal week, capping of an equally surreal few months! Thank you all for the support and kind words throughout. I need to once again point out the reason that score worked so well was David Fincher. We were simply executing his vision and it was an honor and an eduction working with him. Which brings me to:

The Girl WIth the Dragon Tattoo. Atticus and I are hard at work scoring David's next film, which will be opening this Christmas. We've been composing quite a bit of music for this and have just begun to see some of what's been shot. Trust me when I say this film (and of course the music!) will not disappoint.

Perhaps I misspoke on the red carpet or wherever it was I said the new How To Destroy Angels record is finished - it is not. We've been working since last summer on it and are due to mix it this summer for a fall release. We've spent a lot of time experimenting and finding our own sound and identity this time around and we're very happy with the results. The three columns of things I'm currently funneling music into - HTDA, NIN and film work - I believe will start to make more sense to you (and me) as everything unfolds. By having a few different outlets for my work I'm finding more inspiration within each one. No, Nine Inch Nails is not dead and I plan to focus on that next.

And finally, I am friends with Timur Bekmambetov. He's an interesting and very talented director that caught my attention with his film Night Watch (check it out if you haven't). He asked me if I was interested in scoring his new film he's doing with Tim Burton entitled "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter". I was familiar with the book, read the script and it felt like an interesting challenge as a composer - very different from the Fincher films. While discussing the film with Timur he started gently pressing me to play a small role in the film.

The idea was a cameo-esque role that would be kept under wraps and be a surprise around opening night. I was considering this when I awoke a few days ago to the news I am now STARRING in ALVH (which is obviously not true). Fuck. We both apparently forgot the internet existed AND THERE ARE NO SURPRISES anymore.

So… do me a favor and act surprised, OK?

Holy shiz!

A new album, a new score AND a small role?! We can't wait to see what it entails!

There's certainly quite a bit to look forward to!

Keep up the good work, Trent!

Thoughts??

trent reznor in talks to score and star in abraham lincoln vampire hunter

After winning the Oscar for his score to The Social Network, it looks like Trent Reznor is being sought after, especially by 20th Century Fox.

The studio is currently in talks with Reznor to both compose the score for AND star in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter as Jack Barts, "the vampire who kills Lincoln’s mother and sets the hero on his path of righteous vengeance."

If his acting skillz can live up to musical abilities, he'll be in great shape!

…Who ever thought the dude from Nine Inch Nails would be in a position like this? Ha!

The Social Network Takes Best Picture At Critics' Choice Awards

If this film doesn't get the Oscar for Best Picture, we'll be shocked!

The Social Network won yet another award, taking the top critics' award for best film of 2010 at the Critics Choice Movie Awards on Friday night.

The film took four awards, winning Best Picture, Best Director to David Fincher, Best Adapted Screenplay to Aaron Sorkin, and Best Score to Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.

Wowsa!

As for the best actor categories, Colin Firth took home the Best Actor award for The King's Speech and Natalie Portman took away the Best Actress award for Black Swan.

Christian Bale won Best Supporting Actor and his Fighter co-star Melissa Leo took the award for Best Supporting Actress. In fact, the entire cast received the award for Best Acting Ensemble.

The race to the Oscars is definitely on - and with The Social Network picking up awards left and right, it's most likely to win big at the Academy Awards.

Congrats to all the winners!

P.S. Natalie Portman, Christian Bale and the entire cast of The Fighter SO deserved those wins!!

Fight Club: The Musical?!

David Fincher has expressed interest in turning his 1999 film, Fight Club, into a musical. He is in talks with Trent Reznor to get the musical started.

The film was based on the novel by Chuck Palahniuk, who said, "If it happens, it would be extraordinary. Everybody would look at me like a leper, [but] I always saw it as a comedy."

LOLz. Can U imagine?!

Matthew Morrison as Tyler Durden, perhaps?!

Good choice!

Trent Reznor recently revealed that he will be scoring David Fincher's The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

He says that he's been working on the film for about six weeks and the score will be different from the music we've heard in The Social Network.

Interesting.

We loved his score from The Social Network so we're sure this will be a good fit.
