It's About Time — Three Men Who Lost Their Father On 9/11 Will Finally Receive Victim's Compensation Money!
It's been nearly 14 years since the deadly terrorist attacks of 9/11, and now, three young men who lost their father in the attacks on New York City are finally getting their victim's compensation money.
Tyshawn Ward, Trent Ward, and Dujon Holland — who were 14, nine, and 13 years old, respectively, at the time of the attacks in 2001 — lost their father John Holland that day when the 30-year-old was killed while working in the kitchen of the World Trade Center's restaurant, Windows of the World.
The boys, who grew up in poverty after not having a father to provide for them, should have received $1 million in compensation money, but it was lost through the cracks after officials failed to notify the young men it was available.
Now, all three are finally getting their due, though nothing will bring their father back. The lawyer for the boys, Salvatore Diliberto, located the money in 2013 after more than a decade of missteps by the government. He said:
