This is seriously HAWT!

Check out Cee Lo Green's absolutely fantastic cover of Buddy Holly's 1958 hit (You're So Square) Baby, I Don't Care, which he performed for the icon's upcoming tribute album Rave On Buddy Holly (below)!

Holy shiz! We LOVE the soul behind his voice!

Between this and the Florence cover we also just heard, we NEED to hear this full album!

What do U think?? Do U like Cee Lo's cover?

Joan Jett Filing Lawsuit Over Unauthorized Runaways Tribute Album

joan jett and cherie currie filing lawsuit over tribute album

Kind of puts a damper on the whole "paying tribute" thing.

Joan Jett and bandmate Cherie Currie have filed a lawsuit against indie label Main Man Records, in an effort to stop them from releasing a Runaways tribute album without their permission.

According to Main Man Records' website, the album is a two-disc set, featuring covers of the band's songs by a variety of different artists.

The lawsuit says that Main Man used Joan and Cherie's names to promote the album without getting the proper permission first, and that an employee who used to work for Joan "used that connection to imply the project had her blessing."

Joan and Cherie are seeking "unspecified damages" in their lawsuit, but really they just don't want the album to be released.

Here's what their lawyer Oren J. Warshavsky had to say about it:

"This isn't about money. This is strictly about preserving reputation and quality that both Joan and Cherie are known for."

Guess we'll see how this plays out, but there's def something kind of gross about releasing a tribute album when the artists being honored are against the idea.

What do U think? Team Joan Jett or Team Main Man?

New Florence + The Machine!

Ooh! We likey!

Check out the latest - and its accompanying music video - from our beloved Florence + The Machine, a fantastic cover of Buddy Holly's Not Fade Away, which is also featured on a tribute album for what would be icon's 75th birthday, called Rave On Buddy Holly (above)!

Good lord, is there anything she CAN'T sing?!

And we LOVE that they shot the video in New Orleans! It suits the aesthetic of the song PERFECTLY!

Well done, gurl!

What do U think?? Are U feeling new Florence??

New - And Surprisingly Non Sucky - Music From Scarlett Johansson!

We're pretty impressed! This sounds mildly cool!

Scarlett Johansson's first foray into music, an album of Tom Waits covers called Anywhere I Lay My Head, was a pretty epic, muddled and overproduced disaster, but she's since almost redeemed herself with her collaborations with Pete Yorn and now a pretty lovely cover of the Steel Train song Bullet - a part of their tribute album Terrible Thrills!

Check it out above!

Thoughts??

Phil Collins Ca$hes In, Does Covers Of Motown Instead Of Original Material On New Album

Ugh. Did you get this shiteous inspired idea from Rod Stewart's foray into soul??

Those excited to hear some original material on Phil Collins' next album are going to be sorely disappointed, because the legend is only doing covers of soul songs!

Even more disappointing about his Motown tribute Going Back is that he's not even trying to make the songs fresh or reimagined!

He says:

"It shouldn't really be a surprise to anyone that I've finally made an album of my favourite Motown songs. These songs, along with a couple of Dusty Springfield tracks, a Phil Spector/Ronettes tune, and one by the Impressions, make up the tapestry, the backdrop, of my teenage years. I remember it as if it was yesterday, going to the Marquee Club in London's Soho and watching The Who, The Action, and many others, playing these songs. In turn I'd go out the next day to buy the original versions. My idea, though, was not to bring anything new to these already great records, but to try to recreate the sounds and feelings that I had when I first heard them. There was one moment when they were tracking (Martha Reeves & The Vandellas hit) Heat Wave that I experienced a wave of happiness and wonder that this was actually happening to me."

All right, we respect that you really love the music and want to take a little trip down memory lane by honoring the greats, but enough's enough!

We want Phil Collins, not Phil Collins editions of songs that are fine just as they are!!
