Dog Saves Owner From Being Sexually Assaulted

Good Dog!

A golden retriever was definitely its owner's best friend early Tuesday morning when it scared off a man who was sexually assaulting its owner!

The 36-year-old Madison woman had taken her pet to the off-leash dog exercise area in the park. While the dog was running around the park, she heard something behind her.

"The next thing she knew, a man reeking of alcohol had his arms around her and was grabbing at her chest," said Madison police spokesman.

The woman screamed and the golden retriever came running.

The dog knew its owner was in trouble and came growling, barking and gnashing its teeth.

The attacker fled, and hopefully ran off a cliff.

PETA Letter's To Comedy A-listers

PETA Letter's To Comedy A-listers

Someone's in trouble…

H-wood funnymen Kevin James, Adam Sandler, Steve Carell, and Jim Carrey were sent some strong worded letters from PETA today.

The letters, which PETA released to the Track, read:

“We’re absolutely sure that until this moment, you could not have been aware of the abuse and suffering that captive wild animals used in the entertainment industry endure behind the scenes, and we feel that it is important to provide you with this information.”

James and Sandler were specifically targeted in the protest, due to the recent release of their flick The Zookeeper.

Back in 2009, the death of Tweet, a giraffe who collapsed and died on the Franklin Park set of the film, sparked a federal investigation. Tweet’s scenes in Zookeeper were filmed at the local zoo, though he wasn’t a resident. He was transported from California’s Animals in Motion for the shoot.

Activists made their presence known outside the Zookeeper premiere last week in El Lay.

PETA staged an elaborate protest, featuring signs that read “Cruelty Has No Place In Show Business.”

Pet Hotel Etiquette

Pet Hotel Etiquette

Taking a pet on vaca this summer?

Here are the top 5 tips to make sure that both you and your dog are invited back:

1. Don't leave your dog alone.
Leaving a dog alone in a strange place invites serious trouble. Scared, nervous dogs may tear apart drapes, carpeting, and furniture. They might also bark nonstop and scare the daylights out of the housekeeper.

2. Bring only a housetrained dog to a hotel.
How would you like a house guest to go to the bathroom in the middle of your bedroom?

3. Don't wash your dog in the hotel tub.
"It's very yucky," we heard from a motel manager who has seen so many furry tubs that she's thinking about banning dogs.

4. Bring your own food and water bowls, or request special bowls.
Refrain from using the ice bucket as a water or food bowl. Bring your own bowls, or stay in a hotel that provides them, as many of the nicer ones do these days.

5. Don't try to sneak your dog into a hotel.
It's better to avoid feeling like a criminal and move on to a more dog-friendly location. With the number of lodgings that welcome dogs these days, you won't have to go far.

Not traveling with your pet? Here are some tips on what do with your pet when you go on vaca!

Is Fido In Your Will? Pet Estate Planing Is A Growing Trend

taking care of fido

You don't have to be Leona Helmsley to want the best for your pet after you die. She'd left her dog Trouble $12 million when she passed away in 2007.

A judge cut the award to $2 million and awarded some of the money to her grandchildren, but the Maltese still lived a life of luxury until his death in December.

Today there are retirement homes for pets all across the country, and at least 45 states allow for pet trusts.

A pet trust is an agreement that specifies how an owner wants a pet to be cared for, including details on who will be responsible for the animal and how the care will be paid for.

A study from the late 1990s published found 1 percent of dogs and 1.5 percent of cats coming into 12 animal shelters had been surrendered because of owner death.

So, is it really worth it?

America's Richest Dog Is Dead

Doggie heaven is gonna be a down grade!

Trouble, the canine companion of embattled hotel magnate Leona Helmsley, has died at age 12.

Trouble inherited $2 million (a judged decreased the award from the $12 million stipulated in Helmsley's will) when the infamous tax evader died in 2007.

Trouble's will states NOT A PENNY will go to Helmsley's two grandchildren who she cut out of her will. The remaining fortune will be diverted to the The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust.

I'm sure everyone is sad to see the bitch go.

Shanghai Citizens Panic Over New 1-Dog Law

The "One Dog Per-Household" Law Shanghai announced in February will start being enforced this Sunday.

The Chinese government is hoping to cut down the crowded city's dog population, but right now it's just terrifying loyal dog owners.

Cao Yi started walking her dog early in the morning hoping to avoid trouble both with neighbors and with the authorities over her brown poodle and golden retriever.

"I'm afraid one of the dogs might be taken away," she said.

The new rule means either finding a new home for one of her pets or registering one with her parents.
