Florida residents' Victor and Julie Vu were housing pigs, ducks, chickens, turtles, birds, a dog… and an ALLIGATOR!!
But after a neighbor noticed that the Vu's were illegally keeping animals that didn't belong in the city… authorities from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, SPCA Tampa Bay and the Pinellas County Animal Services went to the couple's Clearwater home and confiscated the creatures.
Facing a misdemeanor, Julie said she didn't know keeping animals was "illegal," adding:
The Bronx Zoo has welcomed Five Chinese yellow-headed box turtles and they are starting to get their sea legs.
This box turtle is considered to be one of the top 25 most endangered turtles in the world. They once swam throughout the rivers of China but their numbers have dwindled due to human consumption, use in traditional medicine, pollution, habitat loss, and the pet trade.
So we know the Bronx Zoo is extra happy about their new babies!
Police attempted to revive him when his body was found, but before that fatal moment, he had been complaining of stomach issues for about two days. There were no obvious signs of injury when he was found, but a friend had allegedly commented that he was covered in vomit when he was found, leading some to believe he choked on his own vomit.
Police also report that no drugs were found at the scene of the death, but it had also been reported Ryan had been partying hard with friends the night before. He had also allegedly told one friend that he was taking "some pills."
Officials are now waiting on toxicology results to get further information.
We hope his friends and family get some closure with this sad passing.
