Kathy Bates Takes Down Julia Roberts And Wins The Emmy For Outstanding Supporting Actress In A TV Miniseries Or Movie!

There's definitely nothing mini about this win!!

One of the first big surprises of the night happened when Kathy Bates won the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a TV Miniseries or Movie!

So why was it so surprising? Not because she beat out her American Horror Story: Coven co-stars in Frances Conroy and Angela Bassett. But because she managed to beat out THE Julia Roberts!

Obviously Kathy is more than deserving of the award, but by the looks of her reaction, she DEFINITELY wasn't expecting to win! She also said in her acceptance speech that she didn't think she would win, so there's that too.

Either way, CONGRATS!

Watch her acceptance speech (above)!

gabby douglas lifetime biopic tv

You might have watched the real positive side of things happen live during the Olympics, but what you DIDN'T see is why we're getting a tv biopic of young gymnast Gabby Douglas!

Lifetime has just greenlighted The Gabby Douglas Story, which will be an original movie starring Imani Hakim and Sydney Mikayla as the two-time Olympic gold medalist! Gabby also has a role, but we're not sure how she fits in, when the other two ladies are playing Gabby during her childhood/teen years respectively!

Gabby started gymnastics at 6 years old, and has been called a real-life prodigy — she's also had to battle bullying and racism. She also had to leave her mother, three siblings and grandmother in Virginia Beach at age 14 and move to Des Moines, Iowa, to train. Obvs it was the right choice!

If you've ever wanted an interesting true story to be a movie — look no further!

Oh, and if you've ever wanted to know about her life AFTER the olympics… CLICK HERE!
