Uganda's Disgusting ‘Kill The Gays’ Bill To Become Law Next Month

Filed under: Gay Gay GayLegal MattersSad Sad

This is criminal, unjust, horrifying and it's actually happening this year. We are stunned.

Despite international criticism, Ugandan Speaker Rebecca Kadaga (above) says her country's "Kill The Gays" Bill will become law by December because most Ugandans "are demanding it."

The law will redefine the criminalization of same-sex relationships by dividing homosexuality into two categories (aggravated homosexuality and the offense of homosexuality), and assigning new, outrageous penalties to these "crimes."

"Aggravated homosexuality" is defined as gay acts committed by parents or authority figures, HIV-positive people, pedophiles and repeat offenders. If convicted, they will face the death penalty.

"Offense of homosexuality’" includes same-sex sexual acts or being in a gay relationship, and will be prosecuted by life imprisonment.

Several European countries have threatened to cut aid to Uganda if it passes. Still, somehow the Speaker considers the passage of this Bill a "Christmas gift" to the population.

How the majority of a nation could approve these laws is beyond our comprehension.

Our whole hearts go out to Uganda’s LGBT community. Their story is truly tragic.

Britain Vows To Cut Aid For African Countries That Persecute Gays!

britain to stop aiding african countries that persecute gays

This is what we like to hear!

Britain's Prime Minister David Cameron has announced that the UK will be drastically cutting aid to ALL African countries that persecute gays.

Thus far, Britain's International Development Secretary Andrew Mitchell has cut Malawi's aid by £19 million for the country's persecution against two gay men, who were sentenced to fourteen years of hard labor. Fortunately, the men have now been freed.

In an effort to further support Prime Minister Cameron, Andrew Mitchell has also threatened to "impose further aid 'fines' against Uganda and Ghana for hardline anti-gay and lesbian measures."

Here's what a spokesperson for Mitchell had to say about it:

Uganda's "Kill The Gays" Bill Still Being Fast-Tracked Through Parliament.

Such unbelievable injustice. It's almost too much to even process that in this day and age, this sort of hate still exists.

Despite the Ugandan cabinet and its ruling party's lawyer, Adolf Mwesige, successfully dismissing the "kill the gays" bill as it is deemed unnecessary, given other laws in place that criminalize homosexual acts, it appears that the parliament's David Bahati is STILL trying to keep it moving toward passage!

Apparently,

Eliza Dushku Helps AND Planks Uganda!

Dushku Uganda Plank

Eliza Dushku was recently in Uganda, doing her part.

Not only did she purchase land and resources she needed to build a healing and rehab center for former child soldiers and war victims, but she brought them the majesty of planking as well!

It really is wonderful to see her go out of her way to help like that — plus, we'd give just about anything to know what's going on in those guys' minds when she planks.

LOLz!

Welcome home, Eliza!

Give Back With The Information Baby Blanket

Neil Powell has come up with a great way to inform new moms and give back all at the same time with the Information Blanket.

The concept behind it is simple: every baby needs a blanket and every parent needs education and training about how to protect and raise a newborn. And so the Information Blanket was born.

Powell's design is printed with information about how to care for a newborn including information on appropriate sizes for babies ranging in age from one to six months, and information about feeding, immunization vaccinations, body temperature and warning signs of illness.

Smart!

And here's the best part… for every blanket bought, one will be donated to a less privileged newborn in Uganda, where the infant mortality rate is among the highest in the world.

Uganda Holds Off On "Kill The Gays" Bill

uganda-gay-bill.jpg

This whole situation hurts every piece of our hearts. We can't believe that a bill like this could even be proposed in the world today.

Uganda backtracked on a disparaging bill proposed that would, in effect, punish homosexual citizens even more brutally than previous laws already established. Thankfully, the bill was deemed redundant by the President's administration, and thus it was shelved. However, there are many still in the country's government who feel fervently that the bill should be passed as they insist that the bill would act as a more “specific and clear” law, with more "befitting" penalties like execution for “aggravated homosexuality.”

There are no words. This is beyond disheartening, beyond immoral. It is the very definition of intolerable.

We wish our government should a bit more interest in this issue and took a proud stance against these sort of practices. It's the least we can do to give a voice to those in the country who are forced to live in a constant state of fear.

Our thoughts go out to all those who are suffering because of this injustice.
