UGG Australia and Emu Australia have finally reached a settlement in their legal battle over the word "ugg".
In case you forgot, last year UGG Australia owner Decker Outdoor Corporation filed a trademark infringement against Emu saying their boots are "deliberately confusing customers".
Emu then filed a counter-claim, arguing UGG's trademark was obtained after a false statement to the US Trademark Office.
Now almost 9 months later, both sides have come to an agreement and the lawsuits will be completely dismissed.

If you thought those over-priced Jimmy Choo UGGs were bad, you ain't seen nothing yet!
UGG Australia announced they're rolling out with a new luxury range, UGG Collection.
The 30 piece high-end line will feature Italian-made handbags and shoes in different styles than the traditional boot.
VP of Products Leah Larson said of their newest editions:
"We’re hoping to get a lot of new Ugg-love out of this. It’s very Ugg, it still has our DNA — there’s the sheepskin, there’s the comfort, the quality, the luxury — it’s very much Ugg, it’s just taking it up a notch."
By taking it up a notch with their designs, so are their prices! Items will go between $500 and $1,195.

As we mentioned last year, US-based company Decker Outdoor Corporation which owns UGG Australia had filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against their competitor EMU Australia, claiming they're "deliberately confusing customers".
The issue comes over the generic word “ugg."
So EMU is fighting back as they’ve now filed a lawsuit alleging that Decker’s original “ugg” trademark was really obtained after a false statement to the US Trademark Office and is therefore invalid.
This means Decker could eventually lose all of its registration rights in the US.
Paul Neate, EMU Australia’s owner, reveals:
"Decker has aggressively marketed their 'ugg' – Australia marks and many consumers are unaware of the fact that UGG Australia is in fact American-owned and based. There is a lot more to be told about the history of the word 'ugg,' not only in Australia and Asia but also in the USA, Canada and in the UK and Europe.
We believe in time the courts will come to hear the truth in different jurisdictions and will hand down decisions that make this history clearer for all concerned.

Emu Australia, makers of those boots that look awfully similar to UGGs, will be at New York Fashion Week this year.
As you may recall, UGG is suing their Australian competition for confusing customers.
We think this will take care of all the confusion.
Now customers looking for Emu boots can simply ask retailers if "these are the ones from New York Fashion Week".
Your move, UGG.
