Check out the first trailer (above) for Underworld: Awakening, which once again stars Kate Beckinsale who needed a few extra bucks.

Looks like it'll be a steamy, bloody, vampirrific good time…but we'd still prefer to see an original movie. This Hollywood obsession with sequels and fourquels and fivequels is getting out of hand!

She should totally take this role! Mutants instead of vampires would be a good change of pace for her…

Earlier this month, we weren't overly enthused to hear that Kate Beckinsale had started production on a fourth Underworld film, although we were glad to hear that she was working!

Now, Kate's been given a chance to expand her horizons! She's been offered a female lead role opposite Colin Farrell in Sony Pictures' Total Recall remake.

If she signs on to the project, she'll be starring in the role of Lori, who was previously played by Sharon Stone in the original version.

Given the fact that the film's director Len Wiseman previously directed Kate in two Underworld movies AND since he's her husband, we're thinking she'll probs attach herself to this project sooner than later.

Back in September, we were less-than-enthusiastic to hear that Kate Beckinsale was returning for another Underworld film.

We were surprised to see that she signed on for four part 4, especially after skipping out on #3, but oh well…A job is a job, we suppose.

For better or worse, production has officially begun on New Moon Breaking Dawn Underworld 4: New Dawn.

The 3D vampire/lycan-battle-flick is being shot in Vancouver, British Columbia, and features Beckinsale's return as Selene "who escapes imprisonment to find herself in a world where humans have discovered the existence of both Vampire and Lycan clans, and are conducting an all-out war to eradicate both immortal species."

Die hard Underworld fans can look forward to checking out part 4 in theaters on Jan 20, 2012.

We're thinking we'll sit this one out, but we suppose it's nice to see Kate doing another movie. Haven't seen her on the big screen since 2009's Everybody Fine.

Last we heard about the remake to Arnold Schwarzenegger's 1990 sci-fi classic Total Recall, Inception had just come out, and all we could think was…these movies are pretty similar!

They may seem even MORE similar if lead role candidate Tom Hardy gets cast as our hero, Quaid, although it looks like the frontrunner right now is Colin Farrell.

The movie is scheduled to start shooting in late March with Underworld's Len Wiseman directing.

The plot, which is based on a Phillip K. Dick story, revolves around a man who wants to travel to Mars, and buys an implanted memory of a dream vacation to the planet, but that dream becomes…a NIGHTMARE! (cue maniacal laughter).

As much as we always love the opportunity for some Tom Hardy in our lives, we think Colin Farrell could def pull this one off.

Remakes are always tricky fare, but after Inception, we're still kind of innerested in exploring the concept of "Dreams Vs. Reality."

What about U? Does this appeal to U? Or have U had enough with movies that explore this subject?

REALLY?!?

Haven't we seen enough of the Underworld franchise?? Do they really have to come back for a fourth film??

We guess Kate Beckinsale has nothing better to do because she just signed for a fourth installment of Underworld.

The screenplay was written by John Hlavin, but has already had a rewrite by J. Michael Straczynski. And no director yet.

Yikes!! This film hasn't even gone into production yet and it's already a flop!!

Good luck with that, Kate.
