This probably isn't the news that the victims and their family wanted to hear, but it sounds like police officers had been warned about the danger James Holmes posed to the public WEEKS before his shooting spree in Aurora, Colorado.
Dr. Lynne Fenton, the psychologist who treated the 24-year-old grad student at the University of Colorado, allegedly contacted a university police officer to warn him about her patient's behavior.
Considering psychiatrists can only breach patient confidentiality if they become aware of a serious or imminent threat that their patient may harm others, it sounds like Dr. Fenton picked up on some drastic warning signs.

Geez. If only the mail had been opened sooner.
Sources are reporting that James Holmes, the man who allegedly massacred a Dark Knight Rises audience, had sent a notebook “full of details about how he was going to kill people” to a University of Colorado psychiatrist just DAYS before the attack.
Authorities were called to the campus on Monday morning after a professor reported receiving a package from Holmes, but it turned out to be from someone else. However, another sweep of the mailroom led to the discovery of a package that WAS from the accused murderer.
Upon opening it, cops found what a source described by saying:

Just… unimaginably disturbing!
The 24-year old suspected gunman of last night's fatal movie-theater shooting has been identified as former University of Colorado, Denver PhD student James Holmes.
James reportedly moved from San Diego to Colorado to pursue a PhD in neuroscience in 2011, but was in the process of withdrawing from the program.
James gave himself up to officials outside of the crime-scene and is currently in police custody.
So much love for all those involved in this unimaginably harrowing experience!

Sad…
The black bear made famous for falling from a tree on the University of Colorado campus died Thursday after he was struck by two cars on the interstate.
The Colorado Parks and Wildlife department picked up the bear and immediately identified him as the infamous flyer at CU.
Spokesperson Jennifer Churchill said the following on the sad occasion:
It's a bummer.
It's so hard to go through this and not be able to give these bears a good place to live.
This is definitely a big bummer…we'll miss this bear!

Too bad it wasn't awake to notice…
A wild bear found himself on the University of Colorado Boulder campus and decided to climb a tree.
