Turtles Cause JFK Flight Delays

Turtles Cause JFK Flight Delays

HOW DARE!

Wednesday was time for an annual ritual, the day when the diamondback terrapins that live near JFK airport force one of the runways to close while they crawl across it to go lay their eggs.

Flights ended up only being delayed an hour and the 100 turtles were moved to a nice sandy spot so they can lay their eggs, so everything turned out fine.

Some people seem to think it's an unnecessary problem, but we say they were here first, we can give them an hour to procreate.

It may even remind NYCsters that we are all part of a bigger thing - and not every second needs to be spent advancing your career or social status!!!

Now if you'll excuse us, we have a conference call with the Kardashians.

Bear Unnecessarily Killed For Discovery Channel Reality Show

This is deplorable.

In one of the first episodes of the Discovery Channel series Gold Rush: Alaska, a miner is shown killing a bear near his camp.

In the episode, an unattended box of graham crackers is to blame for luring the bear into the miners' camp, however, the Alaskan Department of Natural Resources says that the miners shouldn't have shot the bear.

In what they're saying is a possible situation made up to make for "interesting" television, sources say that not only was the bear that was shot NOT the same bear shown running from the camp, but in fact, it wasn't even in the same camp when it was killed.

Geologist Bill Cole wrote in a letter to head miner Todd Hoffman, "The bear that was shot did not appear to be the same bear that entered your camp, and was not in camp when it was killed."

With Fairbanks Daily News-Miner columnist Dermot Cole adding,
"As they had already acquired a tag to shoot a bear, it appears to have been a phony confrontation designed to make the TV show more interesting."

When does reality television go too far? A line has been crossed and the producers, as well as the miners involved, should be ashamed of themselves.

An innocent life was lost and the producers and miners should be held accountable.
